I think the Jihadists are insane and what they wanted to do was awful.

But, I don't see the need to draw any kind of connection or comparison between the two.

They have a right to do what they did, the cartoon folks, nobody denies that. The issue here isn't one of free speech though. The government has nothing to do with this situation.

This is a social matter. On a social level what the cartoonists did was low and trashy. The attempted shooting is more a legal matter and that is resolved without any question.

You just don't treet people in a way you wouldn't want to be treated.
