That will hurt both Texas St and the Sun Belt.

Our AD in a recent interview stated that "we have the intention of providing full cost of attendance." I would have to take that to mean we are going to provide the stipend. It would be pretty stupid not to provide full cost of attendance at Texas State.

What a shame. I think that's really going to hurt recruiting.

Hmmm, looks like they need to get control of "multiple sources" in their department then. Weird.

RE: Texas State not offering stipend?
May be much ado about nothing. Could just mean that they are not going up to the full amount. For example, as has been talked about, GS has a very large number of around $8000, I think its far more likely that we will offer around $2000-$2500 (which will be more in line with what most schools CAN offer) rather than the FULL amount.

NMSU isn't either, whether it has been discussed or not IDK. NMSU has not come out saying it will or it won't.

considering how NMSU and texas state are among the top in the conference in terms of athletic budgets, I would be shocked if neither offered full cost of attendance

as someone pointed out, not covering the "full cost of attendance" is not the same as "not covering cost of attendance"

I'm sure opposing recruiters will explain the difference.

nobody in the sun belt is covering the "full cost". that was the discussion with Southern offering $8k a year.

the full cost a school can provide is $8k. however, nobody is doing that.

RE: Texas State not offering stipend?
Joe Vozzelli tweeted several times about this. Teis is an idiot. Says we aren't there yet (paraphrased). I think he still doesn't know we're in FBS. The students had to drag him kicking and screaming to make the move. Not sure he realizes it yet.

Joe Vozzelli
‏@smdrjoe

#TXST athletic director Larry Teis: "We’ll get there. We just have to plan this out. We’re not rushing into making this decision." (1/2)

Joe Vozzelli
‏@smdrjoe

Teis: "It could be tomorrow or it could come gradually. Everyone just has to be on the same page." (2/2)

Larry Teis added later in the interview: "We have the intention of providing full cost of attendance."

It's the Texas State way. Every time you think you've turned a corner, there is just another one.

Which is EXACTLY why I think there's probably some merit to the statement. Larry is so worthless, I could see him doing this.

And since it was requested:

Don't blame me, I didn't want to go FBS to begin with.

RE: Texas State not offering stipend?
I don't really know if any of us will know how much each school will give. But to basically say "We aren't going to pay the COA" seems to be a really bad move in terms of recruiting however.
