No kidding... He's riding in a car that happens to pass a gay couple and this guy feels inclined to not only exit the vehicle to harass them but to also assault them? Sounds like he was trying to prove something.

This kind of crap makes me sick to my stomach on so many levels.

The article made no mention of him facing charges of a hate crime. Was it just not mentioned in the article or is he really not getting charged with something he clearly deserves?

He'd have to be charged at the federal level for it to be a hate crime. Gays aren't a protected class from hate crimes in West Virginia.

It did say this

"Ciccarelli said the FBI is conducting a hate crime investigation related to the incident."

This is why we need to appreciate the tight ship Bobby runs. It won't prevent 100% of this kind of stuff; but it helps. It's a culture thing.

I was thinking the same thing fat!

Not saying it can't or won't happen with BW at the helm, but if it does, the response will be swift and will deter any other morons from doing the same thing.

Butler was suspended imed. and Gary White (Int. President), Doc Holliday and Mike Hamrick (Marshall AD) dismissed him from the football program and school once further information was shown.

Since the state of WV doesn't have a "Hate Crime" on the books for Butler to be charged with one it would have to come from the feds.

This matter was handled quickly and decisively.

Its a tough spot for Marshall because they apparently had a guy that was a potential NFL draft pick driving the car where Butler was the passenger. And Marshall refused to give up the drivers name either.
