Although the University of Memphis is close to finalizing its 2015-16 nonconference schedule, a proposed road game at LSU is no longer part of the plan, coach Josh Pastner said Saturday.

Memphis had hoped to add LSU to a nonconference schedule that already includes Oklahoma, Ohio State, Ole Miss and Louisiana Tech. But the schools couldn’t work out dates on a proposed home-and-home series that would have started this season in Baton Rouge.

“LSU is out. But we’re working on another game now (against) a Power 5 school,” Pastner said, adding that he expects that game to be part of a home-and-home series that will start on the road this season.

Memphis is slated to host Oklahoma, Ole Miss and Louisiana Tech at FedExForum, and will play Ohio State in Miami on Nov. 27. A road game against another Power 5 opponent would further strengthen a nonconference schedule that could be among the toughest in the country.

When does the Louisville series kick in? Or is that gone too?

Half a decade ago, LSU would have been begging us to play them, and they would have no problem coming here first. But NOW, they obviously feel were inferior to them, and can do better..Sad.

What's the big deal? We need a home and home that starts away and we couldn't make the dates work. As long as it is replaced with another P5, we move on.

Louisville asked that we delay for 2 years I believe.
