Convo updates part 3
#3 the extra floor space behind the baskets.
Don't like it. Makes no sense to me.
It can easily be fixed with collapsible seating around the court instead of the permanent design on the concept drawings. The convo can have enough space for convention type events AND have basketball seating as close as possible to the court as per NCAA regulations. Leaving dead floor space and using 4 rows of fold out chairs is a complete design fail and I'm amazed that a professional design company would think that is good. An 8500 seat arena should feel very intimate, not spacious.
The number one driving factor for ticket demand and ticket price is how close the seat is to the action. This is a universal truth. The more seats you can get hovering nearby the court, the more demand, revenue, and fan engagement you will have.

What say ye?

Yep, I also didn't want to sound like a sour puss when they came out but this was the first thing that I noticed. If they put students there the kids 2 or 3 rows back won't see anything. It'll be like at the Coliseum. MUST be fixed.

I assume the ability to host concerts or events is driving how the end zone seating is created but with the empty space behind the hoops being filled by temporary seating(4 spaced rows) and then a rise, this is not ideal. JPJ has retractable end zone seating and still gets it close to the court and gets decent incline.

Regarding the folding seats. The kids will be wanting to stand in them, they'll be asked to get down. After a few games, there will be no more folding seats. Then what will be left are seats a football field away from the action that no one will sit in.
