Quite frankly, I'm not sure any are what I would consider Thugs. They all appear to be entertainers - I'd have to know if they have rap sheets and what their crimes may be. Since I base the term on behavior and not looks, I guess I can't really answer. Why don't you give us a list of crimes if any.

Anyone can put on a nice face. Anyone can look really tough or like a hoodlum but actually be compassionate deep down inside or just misunderstood.

My buddy's sister just got out of the prison Stewart was in. She said it wasn't exactly a den of hard women.

Little hard to answer the opening question as I only know whom three of the pictures represent. Of those three I would go on record as saying two are thugs if you define thug as a violent criminal. I don't believe any of them are from India. Additionally I am confused with the parsing of this particular word and why it matters.

This. It didn't take long for someone to point out the obvious. This is a race baiting thread for sure. Thug defines a person by their criminal activity, not by their appearance. Show me rap sheets, and I don't mean lyrics.

Question: So whose fault is it that someone - even a person with no racist tendencies whatsoever - would get a mental image of "thug" to mean a young, black, gang affiliated/street ruffian persona?

Answer: Rappers and hip-hop artists from the 1990s on who shaped the word that way, the vast majority of their records bought by young white people, who have now grown up with that skewed definition.

If they were told over and over again growing up, from radio and CDs, that's what "thug" means, then why blame them if they equate the word to mean what was taught repeatedly?

If you didn't want the word to start translating to that definition, then you should've railed against Top 40 radio and 'open minded' MTV years ago.

None of them are thugs IMO.

Seriously, who are they? Those 2 are the only 2 that I recognize. Both committed crimes but they're not violent offenders to my knowledge so certainly not thugs.
