I like "Berserkers," "Ermines," "Pronghorn," and especially "Frackers."
My favorite is one that was rejected: "White People"
New fight song if it's Berserkers...

It satisfies the PC crowd, while still honoring UND's origins.
North Dakota State's mascot is Bison. UND adopting Tatonka would be as odd as Marshall calling themselves Mountain People. Or UCLA calling themselves Bruins.

Oh, wait.
UND is not the junior partner by any stretch. NDSU has changed their nicknames twice: started as Farmers, went to Aggies, and on to Bison (pronounced bizon or bisson according to Fargoan dialect).
The nickname committee has some alumni with pro connections, like the President of the Twins and the former owner of the LA Sparks. I'm confident they do a good job (hint: roughriders or cavalry).
Both Phil Jackson and the former Council chairman of the Standing Rock reservation, who were opposed to the Sioux nickname, have recommended Roughriders.

Hilarious that "Abdominal Snowmen" makes the cut, but "Abominable Snowmen" doesn't. "Fliers" does but "Flyers" doesn't. "Dragons of Ice" and "Icy Flying Reptiles" do but not "Ice Dragons."
Instead of snowmen, how about blueskins? Or would that offend someone with some sort of genetic disorder or someone who eats too many blueberries?

Fighting White people you can't really offend white people safe choice.
Roughriders gives you a cool DMX intro song for games.
Rough riders also works for every other CFL team.
RE: Potential new nicknames for North Dakota (not) Sioux
I guess the CFL is down to one rough riders now.
They are green and white so that may be confusing.
They are building a 280 million dollar stadium.
Looking at the stadium design a sunken bowl to reduced wind on fans and players.
The fans will have a awning designed to not accumulate snow.
That sounds like a good plan for UND's twenty five thousand seat stadium.
Making it more fan friendly but still open air.
