Walt, Rice is the "last" team listed because it's an alphabetical listing of the teams "also considered."

Baseball Polls (w/o May 4)
Again we're not listed in Baseball America, but UH did sneak in at #25.

RE: Baseball Polls (w/o May 4)
From BA's online chat this afternoon...
http://www.baseballamerica.com/college/c...hat-may-4/
Quote:Will King (Stephenville,Texas): Though Rice was idle last week, with a series win against FAU this weekend, could they jump back into the Top 25 and possibly be a 2-seed in a regional?
Michael Lananna: That sounds reasonable to me. This battle of Owls is a very important series in a conference that’s been underwhelming this year. If Rice comes out with the win (or a sweep, especially), I could see a Top 25 re-entrance. Rice has been in the discussion the past couple of weeks for the Top 25. And, yes, I think a series win would firm up a two-seed for Rice, assuming the Owls take care of business the rest of the way.
...and Will asked the same question of Kendall in the D1baseball chat, with Kendall much more definitive in his response...

Kendall Rogers:
I would say there’s a very good chance Rice is right back in the rankings with a road series win over FAU, yes. I actually love the Owls’ pitching staff. Just want to see these guys beat what I think is a very quality FAU team this weekend before we rank them again.

I wonder if Wayne Graham will be asked on his radio show tonight about Jon Duplantier?

RE: Baseball Polls (w/o May 4)
D1 baseball discussion on CUSA post season:
Regional Hosts:
Quote:For a team like UNC or CofC to snag a host spot, a team like Iowa, Florida Atlantic or Missouri State would likely have to drop out. FAU is in decent shape right now, with a No. 10 RPI and an 8-3 record against the top 50, but its hosting hopes really hinge upon its series this weekend against Rice. Both teams are 17-7 entering the series, tied for second place, a game behind Middle Tennessee State. Failing to win the Conference USA regular-season title would really hurt FAU’s hosting hopes, but it would still have a shot if it could at least win this series and finish at least second.
Field of 64:
Quote:Conference USA (2 bids)
SAFELY IN: Florida Atlantic, Rice
ON THE BUBBLE (IN): None
ON THE BUBBLE (OUT): Middle Tennessee State, UTSA, Southern Miss
No change from last week.
Middle Tennessee State rebounded from a bad series loss to Marshall by sweeping Western Kentucky to re-enter the bubble discussion. MTSU now leads C-USA by a game over Rice and FAU, and the Blue Raiders are up to No. 60 in the RPI, with a road series win at FAU on their ledger. They have two decent RPI series left against teams in the 60s (UTSA and Southern Miss), and if they can win those series and manage to finish atop the C-USA standings, we think they’ll sneak into a regional even with an RPI in the 50-60 range. But staying inside the top 60 is critical, as no team outside that range has ever earned an at-large spot.
UTSA and Southern Miss are No. 63 and No. 64, respectively, in the RPI, and if either team can win its last two series, it could have a shot to sneak into at-large range. But the thing holding both teams back is that they are in fourth and fifth place in the standings, three and a half games back of the top three teams in the league. MTSU is in better position because of its perch atop the conference standings.
