You would be correct. Same thing with baseball for those who will inevitably complain that DE kills pitching in a couple weeks...

RE: SBC Softball Tournament
If you do single elimination, 2 teams play, max, 3 games.
If you're doing double elimination everyone gets at least 2 games.
Mixed format is just screwy in my book.
I agree with GaSoEagle, why bother having 4 teams travel all that way for 1 shot while others get 3/4? You could get the same results with just 4.
I ain't complaining because TXST lost. I didn't like it to begin with.
Playing ULM was a 50/50 shot. We split 2 games in the regular season. Team just wasn't experienced enough, I guess. (or they just forgot how to hit)

Oh, and, Cajun and Jaguars fans, I best not hear anything during football if GS comes on like gangbusters again.

Nope, wrong again.
There's a fine line between being proud of your team and being arrogant about it. (ie: act like you've been there before). Something that a lot of folks complained about during football. (your and you've being used as encompassing, not singular)
TXST softball is a couple years away from making their mark in the SBC. I can wait.

What did we say? Skully just noted the scores, unless I missed something. I don't care for this setup either, I think TxSt and Troy could have beaten either USA or te Cajuns (they have both already proven that). I would prefer double elimination throughout.

It looks like Texas State's ballpark is very nice. Has the tournament been well attended? Atmosphere?

I m used to double elim in baseball and softball too. I understand the Cajuns argument about rip but would 1-2 more games really effect it that much? I get not allowing all teams to go to tourney but it would seem a 6 team double elim tourney could be a compromise. U.S. And Uta would have been left out this year and maybe we should have been

In my opinion the format was done to protect the top teams from taking a big rpi hit. That might not mean too much if the top teams
weren't trying to secure a national seed or a shot at hosting a regional.
But the Cajuns and Jags are and have been doing that for a long while.
Us hosting regionals and supers helps the conference as a whole.
So in the short term it may not be appealing to you, but I think long term it helps grow the sport. As conference team's RPI as a whole improve the format may change. Just my two cents.

Playing one game against 12-39 GaSo would have been detrimental to the Cajuns RPI. We are still in the discussion for a top 8 national seed. If we would have opened up against #8 seed GaSo, our RPI ranking would have fallen a couple spots and taken us likely out of the discussion for a top 8 national seed.

Don't know what comments you are talking about, but I think some people can find almost any comment insulting if they are predisposed to do so.

RE: SBC Softball Tournament
The No.10 Cajuns beat Georgia St by the run-rule, 10-2 (6) on a walk-off homerun by Vincent in the 6th. It's the 4th time this season the Cajuns defeat Georgia St by the run-rule.
Cajuns had 4 homeruns. Haden, Elkins, Sanders, and Vincent all had homeruns while Georgia St got a homerun in the top of the 1st by Freshman of theYear, Ivie Drake.
Lexie Elkins, the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year and the Nations homerun leader hit her 28th homerun of the year
Cajuns move on to the winners bracket finals against the Jags while the Panthers move to the losers bracket to take on the Warhawks in an elimination game.
It looked like UL had a good crowd.

Yep. If you're talking about a team being a regional or super regional host one game, even if a win, can move you out of a top 8 seed or a top 16 seed. In high level softball, that could mean the difference between advancing to the next round or not as home field can make a huge difference in a round robin or three game series format. That was the reason that it was changed in the first place. If we have 8 teams with winning records and good RPI's it is less of an issue.

RE: SBC Softball Tournament
It's a final. #2 South Alabama beats #6 ULM 6-2. USA moves on to face #1 Louisiana Lafayette in the winner's bracket tomorrow. ULM moves to the loser's bracket to face #5 Georgia State in an elimination game for the right to face the loser between South Alabama and Louisiana Lafayette.
