How much do you think it will cost to handle the asbestos during the demolition? Demolition or repurposing there is going to be cost for handling asbestos. You're argument makes as much sense as the council member claiming that a reason for tearing it down is that all the lighting fixtures are no longer made and they would have to be replaced. As if there would be no cost involved in installing lighting in the new building.

no worries...It was just a passing comment on asbestos in general. I have no data on removal when it comes to demolition or that other thing people are talking about.

That word alone can double a renovation projects cost...

Asbestos is what I was thinking about in my initial post. I have been involved as a communications engineer on smaller sites where it had to be removed. This is very time consuming, costly, requires hi-tech equipment, and the workers have to suit up like astronauts. Plus OSHA will monitor it closely, daily.

Maybe the procedure has changed but I would not think it would be cost effective unless there’s only a small amount to remove.

Maybe all the asbestos will be "stolen" before they decide some renovations need to be done...

I still like the idea of a Wrestling Hall of Fame.

Put a new video board over a MSC set up for Monday Night Wrasslin and show classic matches from over the decades. Fill the seats with dummies and put in surround sound to recreate the atmosphere and maybe use hologram projection in the ring. Use Wax Figures to show famous wrestlers performing their finishing move at their displays and so on.

If they could scrape the THC off the ceiling tile we could have a hell of a party.

Went to a concert there back in the day. The haze from all the weed looked like the fog rolling in on San Francisco Bay.

Of course. The same as it was at every music arena on the planet.

I thought about that when I went to see The Who a couple of weekends ago in Dallas. Everyone was 45+, not a sign of pot, but when I saw them at the Coliseum circa 1975 everyone had pot.

Watching the fog roll into San Francisco and watching it burn off. If you lived right on that burn line, say like Stanyan Street, you could set your watch by it.

Great idea, dude. 03-phew THC reclamation could pay for the asbestos removal.

I agree. Saw some great games there. Was a great venue for basketball. The operative word is WAS.

FedEx Forum is way better to me but maybe that's because I have a better seat than when we were at the MSC

I totally agree. While we all love the MSC and had great times there, much of the seating was substandard. The supposed 'good' seats there, the 'Golden Circle', were terrible in that there wasn't enough elevation, row to row, for unobstructed viewing. Somebody five rows down could stand up and block 10 rows behind them. Heaven help us if she had a 'bee hive' hairdo. Upstairs was much better, unless you were at a hockey game and seated in the ends. Then you couldn't see the goals near you at all. It was a good building, but it's time is past. Just like the 1966 Rambler station wagon column shift car my dad taught me how to drive on.

My Pops was a Rambler man... I remember at least 3 from my childhood.

I wish you all well in your efforts in futility.
It's a lost cause but then people are still trying to eliminate crime in memphis too, so, have at it i guess.

I'll enjoy my trip to nashville this weekend instead
