Congratulations, I suppose.

He sounds like a heckuva player, so long as he limits that "bad-ass" attitude to the court where it belongs.

Not sure I like this addition. Very good player, no doubt. Not being charged in the sexual assault case still leaves baggage I'd rather not have in the program.

I too am concerned about the sexual assault incident. I have a daughter in college and stuff like that is always in the back of my mind. Dominic's actions since being released from the team all seem to indicate he is on the right path. I am a firm believer in second chances but he should be on a very short leash. Basketball wise this is a huge get for UTEP and quit possibly the thing that can get UTEP over the hump and in to the NCAA tournament.

No charges filed....

Plenty of evaluation took place. I have no problem with that. Obviously trolls wait and look for things like this to pounce on.

RE: UTEP lands bad ass transfer PG from Oregon....
As per the police report.....

*girl meets Joseph Young and he invites her to a party
* girl and her friends pre game at another party with some vodka shots
*Artis, Brandon Austin, Damian Dotson meet girl and the 4 go into a restroom
*they tell her to shake her butt and she does for them (her own story)
*the three of them have sex with her
*she agrees to go back to their apt with them
*they have sex with her again until she starts to cry then they all stop and go play video games
*she and Artis sleep in his room
*they have sex once again in the morning before she leaves
*She and Joseph Young meet up later on that day at his apt
*Artis, Austin, and Dotson are also there playing video games
*girl and Young have consentual sex while her accused attakers are in the living room (her statement )
*girl files police report
*detectives record telephone conversations between the 4 to try and incriminate the basketball players
*basketball players agree it was a wrong thing to do but adamantly insist it was all consentual
*police drop charges

It is lost on me how this is a "bad ass" transfer, even if he is not guilty. His stats at Oregon are fairly pedestrian. And while it might end up being a good transfer, nothing about his time at Oregon says it is a lock.

He was rated the #54 player and 4* as part of the 2012 class. Check out his freshmen video.

And? That does nothing to refute anything I said above.

I believe his freshman year stats were good and he started 25 games. His sophomore year was interrupted by his selling school provided shoes which got him a 9 game suspension and he was not as good after that. Time will tell and I am not so sure this is a good gamble.

Ahh. This response along with stantheman's give a better understanding of the excitement of OP. Thanks.

I just don't get why, after we have lost so many good recruits because of a lack of character, that we would go back to this well.

I guess desperate times call for desperent measures.

ODU landed a very good Forward from Illinois, Austin Colbert is coming home to play for ODU. Us Monarchs fans are excited to land the second top 100 recruit for 2016 class in the form of transfer. I hope dominic artis pans out for UTEP. Go CUSA

There you go saying "we" again. You're a PAC12 guy, remember? Definitely not a miner fan.

Maybe "bad ass" refers to his off court exploits.

I don't know anything about the guy except for what has been reported here. I'm a firm believer in second chances and am glad he is being given a second chance. I'm simply concerned that he may not last given Floyd's recent bad luck with recruits of questionable character.

Still wondering why anybody would sign up to play for Tim Floyd & why hasn't Utep let him go yet? Utep deserves so much better.
