Hi, everyone. Have missed hanging out here, but this "Free UAB" movement has all but consumed me in recent months. And yet, here I am , calling upon you all again to impart some information. On May 7th, the recently formed UAB Athletics Task Force is having a public forum to discuss the future of our Football program. I think a representative of the firm chosen to do the report on our program's viability will be there as well as several boosters and Athletic Department persons to talk about financial support for the team, if we get it back, the financial burden appears to be placed somewhat on the fan base and city elected and business leaders. It' s basically a prelude to the moment of truth where we know what to expect, or what's expected of us. But someone in conversation on Facebook, made some suggestions about how to market our efforts to expand our fan base. TV commercials came to mind for me, which brings me here to all of you... I seem to remember seeing a commercial promoting UTEP Football a while back. Out of curiosity, how many other Conference USA members have run TV commercials to promote their football team, or any of their teams for that matter? I know that UAB hasn't run a television sports promo of any kind that I'm aware of in years! Thanks! It's information I want to relay to the athletic department, and marketing director in the firm if a suggestion, and if you happen to know favorite school's sports marketing budgets, please pos them here as well... Thanks for helping me look like I know what the hell I'm talking about at that meeting! 😀
RE: Conference USA School Athletics TV Commercials
ODU has not run any commercials for football, as we have no room additional fans yet. They have run commercials in support of mbb and wbb, but only on light rotation. I don't know what their ad. budget is, but I'm guessing it's rather small.
I wish you the best of luck, and hope UAB gets to stick around for as long as they want.

Thank you, "Painted" One! No room for additional fans yet? Does that imply there's a waiting list for football tickets? That sounds like a "good problem " to have. Keeping a good thought for Monarch Nation...

Yes there is a waiting list for tickets but the stadium is only 20,118 seats or somewhere close to that. The new stadium study is going on now but so far the numbers mentioned for the stadium is anywhere from 27,000 to 30,000 with room to expand. The AD is trying to keep ticket demand up while having top class amenities. I think most fans agree with his philosophy but also hope he is under promising so he can over deliver.

Since Memphis is a athletic peer school and former conference mate, here are some examples of weekly ads promoting upcoming games. The "Dustin Fountain/Justin Fuente" campaign generated buzz around the city. Including the coach and team may work for UAB as well to rally/unite the metro.
