RE: NFL draft
I wish Kent would've had Vedder and his 7' ft tall fram play tight end in the red zone. He isn't the most athletic guy but I don't know to many football players that could win a jump ball in the back of the end zone against him.

RE: NFL draft
In second round mock up, USA Today projects Q to go to the Bills with the 50th pick of the draft.

RE: NFL draft
First rounder, Andrus Peat, is the son of former NIU/NFL player Todd Peat.

RE: NFL draft
This might be the worst MAC draft in a generation.
Of course, coming off two drafts where MAC players went #1 and #5 (?) I guess a really bad draft isn't too much of a shock.

RE: NFL draft
The MAC was fairly young last year, in terms of talent.

+1... Surprised an OL from Toledo or CMU has not been drafted.

RE: NFL draft
At this point players are better off going UDFA. You can choose a team that needs depth at your position, and you can negotiate your salary while draft pick salaries are slotted.

RE: NFL draft
So, only four players from the MAC have been drafted, yikes. How does it look when the MAC player of the year goes undrafted? Can't be a good look to high school recruits.

RE: NFL draft
I don't think recruits of one school care too much about what is going on with the rest of the conference.
TV is a factor more than ever, and it's hurt the MAC in a big way. NFL scouting has gotten lazy, since enough teams are on national TV in a week to keep them busy that they can just ignore the rest. The MAC needs to make a big splash in the national arena, and it needs to be conference-wide. Losing bowl games, and failing to upset many BSC teams will prevent your players from getting drafted unless they stand out in a huge way.

none of this means much. players are mostly drafted on their tape and their measurables. there was a guy from frickin Hobart College drafted in the second round and I'm pretty sure they haven't won any bowl games. toledo had 4 legit nfl prospects and won a bowl game but nobody got drafted.
teams know that there's good value in mac guys as undrafted free agents. lots of them stick in the league and some become stars. the mac is consistently putting a lot of guys on nfl rosters. some years we have the #1 pick some years not too many. the draft will always favor the sec, big 10 etc but it's not the be all end all.

Yep, see the post on GB drafting Rollins. GB knows MAC players very, very well...
A Packers v. Steelers game sometimes looks like a MAC FB alumni party.
