No decision yet on Navy for Access Bowl
http://espn.go.com/college-football/stor...ligibility

Some robust discussion but no decision made. However, it seems there are quite a few commissioners that said any team playing after the final rankings should not be eligible for the Access Bowls.

This was discussed a while ago.

The only possible fair path forward -- assuming the game date is not moved -- is for the selection committee to consider Navy's record with an added loss, to take care of the possibility that they lose to Army.

RE: No decision yet on Navy for Access Bowl
Other articles are suggesting that there will be a compromise and a deal will get done.

Aresco has proposed that if Navy is selected for access bowl, and then loses to army, then they will vacate the access bowl and the #2 "G5" team in the CFP rankings will simply go in their place. Sounds reasonable to me.

But think about it. How likely is this scenario anyway. Navy would have to have a GREAT year, at least 10-2, but more likely 11-1 or 12-0, AND also lose to what will probably be a bad to mediocre Army team. Now come on, how likely is both of those scenarios going to happen. If Navy is 11-1 for example, then 95%+ chance they defeat Army anyway.

A non issue.

Yes, it was discussed a while ago, but this is an update from the CFP meetings yesterday.

Whatever accomodations need to be made to keep the Army-Navy game as it is need to be done. A game with that history versus the latest P5 exclusionary National Championship scheme is no contest IMO.

Navy made the move to a conference knowing this could be an issue. I think have this on the Saturday before the official start of the college football season. I remember watching Abeilie watching Abiline Christian vs Ga State last season to start the season, I was ready to watch any college football game.

While I wish both schools would agree to move the A/N Game back to Championship Weekend, the above is an acceptable solution IMO.

Well the point is moot unless Navy wins the AAC CCG and is ranked ahead of the other G5 champions.

In that case, it really could be that Navy is the best G5 and deserves to go to the NY6 bowl game but will have screwed themselves because of playing Army after CCG week - even if they blow Army out of the water.

Maybe if such a scenario comes to pass, they'll move Army - Navy to the regular season. Or maybe give them a special date before the rest of the season starts?
