Paging Archie Miller. Paging Jeff Capel. Please let Florida know when you may be free to interview.

RE: Billy Donavan headed to the NBA
Many college-to-pro moves (whether basketball or football) are often short-sighted where people are blinded by the short-term dollar signs, but this one is a good move for Billy Donovan. The Thunder had a lot of injuries this past year but have 2 of the 10 best players in the league with Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook (and you'll get plenty of people who would say that they're 2 of the 5 very best players in the NBA). Very few quality NBA jobs with this much talent open up in this manner, so this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. (They're usually rebuilding lottery team projects.) Basically, the last NBA team with this much talent with an open coaching position was the Kobe/Shaq Lakers in 1999 (and they got taken over by an already-assured Hall of Fame coach in Phil Jackson). I don't count the Cavs job being open last year since it wasn't clear that LeBron was going to be coming at the time that they were hiring.

A name to remember is Richard Pitino as well....Coached there under Donavan and knows that Program and Culture very well.

RE: Billy Donavan headed to the NBA
After a losing season at Florida and after only getting a one year contract extension, he was smart to leave. He is a great coach, but you can sense that the brass at Florida were getting restless (which is cray cray after all of the greatness that he brought to the Florida program).

In this case, he had to do what he had to do (and will probably be successful in OKC)

You should care more. Just like UCONN, Notre Dame's best sport is Women's Basketball. 07-coffee3

I don't think that's accurate at all.

Donovan dipped his toe in the NBA waters a few years back with the Orlando Magic. Now's as good a time to leave as any. He's had a very successful career at Florida and produced several NBA players. He'll make it work with OKC.

It's good news for UConn. Kevin Ollie is still in Connecticut.

I am not really sure that is an actual sport.

It's a no-brainer move for Donovan. It's one of the best situations one can expect for an open job in the NBA, and even if he fails he can pretty much write his own ticket if he has to move back to the college ranks.

It may not be accurate. That said, a one year extension doesn't exactly show that much commitment to the guy.

Having a contract through 2020 doesn't show commitment?

Florida hires Mike White. Wake looked at him last year before hiring Danny Manning. White is high risk/high reward.

Knowing this board, I can't wait for all the rumors about Florida to the ACC to start. White is the son of Duke's AD, Kevin White. 05-stirthepot
