The rivalry with Tennessee is such a farce.
Yes it is.
For balance sake, the one between Ohio State and Illinois is even more of a farce.

Move both Auburn and Bama to the east, move Vandy and Mizzou to the west division.
If they did that, they could eliminate the "permanent crossover" games, maybe keeping just one permanent matchup (Vandy-Tenn) like the Big Ten does.

In football, Big 12 two-way tiebreaker will be head-to-head. Three-way (or more) was the hold up. Sound like it's close to settled.

Total sidebar but if you're a fan of BYU-Cincy-Memphis-UConn-UCF Bowlsby was clear that expansion isn't happening. Big 12 very dug in at 10

So other words Big 12 will never be in the playoffs next year.

RE: Real tweets about Title game and maybe expansion
The big 12 can get into the playoffs. Their problem is that the other four majors depend upon their teams winning in order for them to make it into the playoff. That was evident last season. What the big 12 has to depend upon in order to get in is that they have to depend upon losses by equivalent teams in the other major conferences.
That is not a situation of parity.

The lack of a 13th game would be a problem. That is why Ohio State jumped over both TCU and Baylor. I would have loved to see TCU in the playoffs since they were ranked higher than others. FSU was weak for the last 2 years that the whole ACC was weaker than they were.

RE: Real tweets about Title game and maybe expansion
Funny thing is this: If Texas was on the outside looking in like TCU and Baylor were last year, not only would the Big 12 expanded, but they would have a championship game too.
Let's stop beating around the bush here and just say that Texas does not want to expand and does not want a championship game.
In regards to the playoffs, a Big 12 team can make it in especially if no one in the ACC has a special year. The Big 12's strength of schedule is usually pretty decent year after year.

RE: Real tweets about Title game and maybe expansion
I just cannot wrap my head around the other P5 conferences allowing the Big12 to stay at 10 members and thereby take home a per program CFP share of about $6.5Mil when the programs in the other P5 leagues are each taking home an average of about $4.6Mil based on dividing a similar portion of the pie as many as 14 ways. That nearly $2Mil/year advantage is too large. I realize the other leagues (except the ACC) have additional income from their own networks, but I dont think they'd just concede this type of funding advantage. They're just too greedy and competitive.
It seems ludicrous to debate, but any chance the CFP payout gets adjusted to eliminate the advantage in return for allowing the Big12 to continue on @10? The extra money could be thrown back in the pool and distributed to everyone, including the G5.

I like using maps to illustrate points. I thought this one illustrated yours nicely.
Yes, visual is best. Thanks for the assist.
Cheers,

Using this map, the ACC's wacky divisions, don't look much different (prior to the Louisville for Maryland swap). You can draw the same wavy line, and make it makes sense.
