That is hyperbole at its finest, on both sides.

We knew the SBC was our ticket out of a sinking ship conference. We were told the goal would be to get to 12. We knew we would have a vote on who that will be. Your president (one that I know is smarter than I) that voted us in had to know we would vote for that 12th member to be in the east. You can clamor for NMSU everyday, but until an eastern member is added along with them or we lose members they aren't a favorable option by the decision makers even when compared to doing nothing.
That's a totally different discussion . . . And IF you've read my past posts, then you know I'd like at least 12, for a CG and divisions . . . Which helps ALL members . . .
I don't even have a problem with a member being added in the east near App . . . That addition does not have to preclude/negate adding a certain FBS program all sports in Las Cruces (they already play FB in the Belt, and in point of fact were a full time member before y'all ever were). . . .
But until we get to at least 12, and divisions, your fan bases' "wringing your hands" over travel costs, some actually claiming it's "bleeding schools dry" IS small time.
IF the cost of travel in this conference is in point of fact "Driving all of Apps. Decisions," then perhaps you made a mistake when you left your previous conference.
All we as App fans want is to add the school that makes the most sense financially. Not just for us but for every SB member. Adding NMSU would only help to a small degree while adding a team in the east near App would help a great deal. Evidently the majority of the presidents agree as they have not voted to bring the Aggies in as a full member. You point out them being a former member as a reason to add them now, but apparently it was not mutally beneficial the first time around or they would have stayed.
Every team has at least 1 conference mate within a few hours drive except App. How can you criticise us for wanting the same setup as every other member?

Sounds small time, who at this level would think like that.
Crying about the cost of travel in the conference you just accepted membership in will ALWAYS be "small time."
Big difference in crying and acting in the best interest of your university. That's how presidents think, critically.
Huh . . .
Your President approved the move to the Belt knowing where every member school is.
Your President knew the Belt didn't have Divisons to defray travel costs.
Your President knew that the nearest Belt school to you was roughly 325 miles away.
And your President joined anyway . . .
Maybe YOUR President isn't that Bright . . . . Critically thinking I mean . . . .
Our President is gone . . .
Our President left last year . . .
Our new "President" had no say in moving conferences . . .
Our Athletic "President" is gone . . .
Our new Athletic "President" had no say in moving conferences . . .
Maybe you should stop berating App fans for wanting the same things for our school and fanbase that you do. You want a school that has proven its worth, is within the footprint, and will draw more crowds. Guess what, we want the same thing. We can't have both of those things, though, as either side A will vote side B down or side B will vote side A down. We want what is best for the Sun Belt, not what's best for Appalachian State, and if NMSU was what is best for the Sun Belt, it would already be a full member, but at the time, it isn't. Maybe that will change down the line, but at the time being, this is where we stand. I don't think it's unfair for us to wish for a team that's a little closer to us. That's not "small time" thinking, but that's thinking about what is financially responsible for the conference in terms of travel partners and travel costs.

Not trying to get into the current p1ssing match about the travel cost debate, but having an opponent a few hours from you (our closest is 6 hours away for football) is not for the individual school's benefit. It is for the benefit of the other schools, so that when the olympic sports travel to you they can schedule an additional game at the "bus distance" school, thus defraying costs.
One football game within driving distance, or maybe 10 a year in Olympic isn't really a significant savings to your school. It is a savings to the conference teams overall.
Again, I'm not trying to claim "small time" or anything of that nature... Just pointing out the purpose of "travel partners".

C-USA won't change bylaws to keep UAB without football

All i know is i was treated much better in Lafayette than i was in Ruston.
I know of the person you're referring to. I see him at almost all the baseball games.
Glad you enjoyed yourself. You should come by in another year or so. You may not recognize the place! When you came last year, we were just beginning construction on our first Phase 1 project (SEZ expansion). We have completed that and are now in the process of building a new track/soccer team facility and our 90,000+ sq. ft. Athletics Performance Center. Also by then, we should be doing major renovations at the baseball stadium (The Tigue) and renovations to the Cajun Dome. There are also plans in the works for an indoor practice facility specifically dedicated to the softball team.

You have your eastern CUSA AD's mixed up. I believe it was MTSU's AD who recently publicly championed for Liberty & JMU. What ODU's AD is saying is that nobody has the votes which is why the conference is likely to stand pat.

Wood had spoken favorably of both JMU and Liberty but it was further back than a few days ago.

No doubt. And I imagine if you asked him a specific question regarding those two teams today he still would speak favorably about their inclusion. My point was he hasn't changed his mind because those two don't have votes; he is simply reporting the current status. It isn't about travel concerns or discord between CUSA schools no matter how much more interesting that makes the discussion.

Yes I know. That is why I said adding a team close to App would be a greater benefit to everyone in the league when compared to NMSU. Still, it would be nice to have one team within a short drive for our players and fans.

Raise $10 million and Watts will say he needs at least $25 million. He simply doesn't want football.

Former Temple president didn't want football and basically single-handedly got them kicked out of Big East hoping it would collapse the fan support and budget, but the time lag gave them a chance to save football.
