Was hoping the BIG Announcement was to be about new players and new assistant coaches...............

I think it is a great announcement. It is a really good event that raises a lot of money. Doubt that Derek would have considered coming back with Chris still here.

I was hoping it was for our "new" Little Rock uniforms. Good that Fisher gets to come back now.

My guess is that new Little Rock uniforms will debut at the beginning of next season.

Couldn't think of a better announcement. I had thought of this before, but wondered how it would fit into his schedule. They are just holding the event earlier and he likely has a little more flexibility as a coach then he did as a player. We've always had a great crowd at the SpectacUALR, but they might have to cut-off ticket sales at some point for this one since the arena floor only holds so many people.

This was a nice announcement, and should help with fundraising. Getting Fish involved with the program now that Tits is gone will help. But I do agree with you, it was a bit of an over-sell, under-deliver.

Not sure I agree. We were all just way off the mark in our speculations. Having a 5 time NBA champion and now coach of a team that once was, and could be again, the premier team in the league as the honoree at your yearly fundraiser is quite a big deal.
Announcing assistant coaches or a signee, would not have been put off for a week because that stuff leaks out these days. Still I am anxious to hear about who Coach Beard is hiring and what new players he is bringing in.

Getting Little Rock's most famous Alum, not only in basketball but probably in all areas, re-involved in the program is HUGE! It is a big deal. Much, much bigger in the long run than an assistant coach hire, or new uniforms. I have not come to the event for the last several years as I refused to support Tits. But I already have Thursday, September the 10th on my calendar. Continuing evidence that it is a new beginning for Little Rock athletics!
