Crump1, as much as I want to see us make a move and the Sun Belt is okay by me, I cannot understand UT-Arlington and UA-Little Rock receiving money earned through football. Can you explain? Also, does NMSU and Idaho receive funds from money the other sports have earned?
Look at the chart in this article: http://www.foxsports.com/college-footbal...one-050415
The Sun Belt earned nearly $12 million from CFP money. CUSA earned over $16 million and the MAC earned over $14 million. There is SO MUCH money to be made under the new CFP format for FBS schools.

Somebody email this chart to "not while I am here" Rose and ask for a comment on why JMU does not want a piece of the action.

How many do we have? I don't feel like counting.

RE: VCU to pay the Student Athletes
At the Coaches caravan last night Mr. Bourne said that there were close to 500 athletes at JMU this year but he did not break down the scholarship nimber.
One time last year I did a quick count and I think I came up with about 400 or so scholarships? Not sure if that is accurate or not.. Think it is in the
ballpark though.

Or around $1.73 million per 415 scholar athletes if all sports are treated equally.

Guys, I don't know how they break down someone who receives a partial, and I don't know how many actual athletes we actually have. You could be correct, LH, but I just looked up the max scholly's allowed for each of our sports. The men total 106.6 total scholarships and the women total is 123 scholarships for a total of all of our NCAA sports at 229.6 scholly's.
This makes the minimum that the COA will costs JMU to be $4180 x 229.6 = $959,728.00. Again, this isn't the total number of athletes, but rather the total number of athletic scholarships JMU is allowed to give out. I don't know how you treat the athletes with partials. Do they receives the full amount of $4180.00? Do they get a percentage equal to the percent of their scholarship? LH, I'm not sure where the number 415 comes from but that is almost double what we are allowed to give out in athletic scholly's. Maybe we have that many athletes with all of the partials and walk-on's, but it seems a little high to me.
I certainly could have made a mathematical error as I used the calculator build into this computer and I did not double check my work.

The number 415 (plus or minus a few) is the number often cited as the number of varsity athletes at JMU. I have no idea what percentage of that number are on scholarship, and whether providing FCA is limited to only scholarship athletes.
