They actually went back to calling the game like it used to be called. That's not manipulating the rules. Who manipulated the rules were the coaches who started coaching mugging offensive players instead of actually you know, playing defense. How the games are played now are like how the games were in the NBA in the 80's to some degree- just no short shorts!

That is a win-win.

And that's a rare sentence where the first four words are capitalized and its not an acronym of some kind.

That's right. Wisconsin and several other teams in this year's NCAA tournament were basically playing 1980s Detroit Pistons defense -- they fill the game with lots of hand checks and body checks and dare the officials to blow the whistle, knowing that the refs are not going to call a foul every 10 seconds no matter how many fouls are actually committed.

That's too long for college. But the international distance would be a good move.

Ridiculous! Keep the college game the same, a balance of offense and defense. College fans like both. A 30 second shot clock does not "mitigate" a bad game. In fact scoring will be even more lopsided with a shorter shot clock.

The data just doesn't support that. Remember- the college men are the only place in the world that has a shot clock that long. High School, Women's college ball, international- all are at 30 seconds(or 24).

What the college game also needs though is the college admin not being wimps and having a backbone and calling the games like they started to do 2 years ago. But then the cowards made the refs back down and allow the games to get back to mugging. That's what would really help college basketball the most. 1 set of standards nationwide.

High school? Where? To the best of my knowledge, both Ohio and Indiana high school still have no shot clock. And the high school game is more popular here than anywhere else in the country.

Methinks you are pulling out any argument you can think of to support your case, regardless of whether it's true or not.

I don't know about basketball, but in football they pretty much universally follow NCAA rules except for the length of the game.

I know some high schools here in the DC area play with a 30 second shot clock. Not all of them, but some. Basically anyone except for college men that play with a shot clock- it's 30 seconds or lower.

bottom line with the shot clock- it's almost as much of a lock as there is for it to go to 30 seconds. No matter how much folks complain about it.
