Pretty good write on CUSA running backs. Every running back on the list is damn good. Wish they ranked Dixon higher but putting him behind a Ulala running back should motivate Dixon even more.

One they left off, and likely appropriately so at this time, is ODU's Freshman of the Year, Ray Lawry. However, he is certainly deserving of mention.

Lawry did not start until the fifth game last year and still rushed for over 700 yards while averaging over 8 yards per carry. With Heinicke gone, I think it will be safe to project Lawry to have more carries than last year and significantly more production. As the season gets going, I think it will be apparent that he belongs on any list of C-USA's elite running backs.

No mention of Aaron Jones from UTEP. He did run for over 1,300 yards last year but only scored 11 touchdowns.

Lawry had those yards because he was only facing 5 maybe 6 in the box. Now that Heineke graduated and you have a freshman QB expect to see 7 or 8 in the box.

HF, while we haven't officially named a starting quarterback this year, most Cajun fans are hoping for a kid named Haack. He's an excellent passer with long range. I'd love to see McGuire facing 5 or 6 in the box this year.04-cheers

A quick video on #6 Breida. Might be the fastest RB in the nation. Led the nation in 50 yard runs and ypc.

Since Johnson, Butler and Watson will be SRs this year. The guy that will most likely be the starting RB for Marshall in 2016 will be Tony Pittman, he is just a smaller version of Johnson. He had 127 yards on 11 carries and 2 TDs in the spring game. That's 11.5 yards per carry.

Lawry actually rushed for 947 yards and 16 TD's, that after only having 20 carries through the first five games. I predict 1,200 + yards for Mr. Lary this season.

PB2, thanks for the correction. I went off the top of my head when I should have looked it up. I had the average yards per carry wrong too. Here are Lawry's November Sierra stats from last year:

Rushes 134
Yards 947
Avg 7.1
TDs 16
Longest 68

Johnson is rated to low.

Seriously though, it's an insult to put out a G5 list.

How many people will see this anyway, SaturdayBlitz.com? The recognized sites (SI, ESPN, etc.) would not likely even have a G5 back in their top 10. Like ranking Doughty as the 22nd best QB. 04-jawdrop

If he was so good, why didn't he come out into the draft this year. A year where there is only 5 good QBs?

Jones may break into the top group by season's end. As a junior this coming season he has a very big and experienced OL coming back. Look for great things from him this year. Lots of talent in the UTEP RB core and fullback as well.

Y'all have no idea how fun it is to have Devon Johnson stomping people in the name of your school.

McGuire's not a stomper. He just leaves the defenders wondering what the heck just happened. One of my favorite runs of his was against Texas State, it's late in this video as he heads towards the sidelines. Check it out.

That looks like a team who should be in CUSA. Not ODU or UNCC
