125 K
I was watching Mike and Mike this morning when they reported that a high school football coach just signed a contract for $125,000, making him the highest paid coach in the state. Apparently, coaches salaries are skyrocketing in Bama due to the Nick Sabin effect. Good for them, if that's what the market will bear.

Quote:It has kind of been getting outrageous," Niblett said. "It started off with the money college coaches were making, but I think if you go to other states like Texas or Georgia you will find [high school] guys making a lot more than $125,000. The numbers those guys are making -- and not teaching -- are unbelievable.”[/

Hoover is a national powerhouse. It's Brother Rice on steroids. The only thing close to it in terms of fanatic fans would be a few of the Texas schools.

You're absolutely correct! Plus, their schedule always includes a top game or two with other southern out of state powerhouses. They've played Bryne S.C., St. Thomas Aquinas, FL, Miami Central and Valdosta. Tons of high school football games on TV down here. Spring games are also frequently televised.

RE: 125 K
The football coach is making 125K but it's not 125K for football.
He's the AD as well. Some districts in MI pay upwards of 80 or more for AD, and the wealthiest districts pay around 8 for football. Now if one of these schools allowed both it's certainly possible to make as much as 90-95 in our state in the same set up. If you were allowed to keep camp money etc certainly in some rare instances (which Hoover is in Alabama) it's not out of the realm of possiblity of getting 6 figures in MI too. In Illinois there are coaches making 6 figures as a coach and teacher believe it or not.
