Caught a bit of a break with Marshall beating MTSU. But at this point, it seems as if we have zero margin for error. Need to sweep this weekend.

That's huge! Marshall (6-12 in C-USA coming into this weekend) is the weakest team that the league-leading (14-4) MTSU will face in the final four series. Now the Raiders are even with FAU in the loss column, and only two ahead of us.

Let's win two today/tonight, Owls!!

I'm still going with the 8-1 finish that beats MTSU's 8-4 and it sounds like they got one of their 4 already.

Would love to get our sweep so we can keep our one mulligan in our pocket for another week 03-wink

MTSU is really not that good. They lucked out last weekend as if Charlotte had any bullpen whatsoever they would have been swept instead of sweeping (with one in the 9th and two in extra innings)...and Charlotte may be even worse than Marshall.

Right. And as I posted in today's game thread, MTSU is 9-13 in OOC. But they are two games ahead of us in the loss column in conference.

In the second game of a DH, Marshall leads MTSU 2-0 in B5 of what will probably only be a 7 inning game.

Marshall just got out of a 2nd and 3rd situation with one out in the top of the 6th. Still 2-0 going to bottom of 6. Hope this is only a 7 inning game.

Marshall should've won the first game; had bases loaded in B7 with no outs but only scored one and lost 2-1.

They're still up 2-0 in the 2nd game, now just 3 outs away from helping us immensely. Come on, Herded Thunder!!

RE: Other scores
Marshall leaves their starter in to start the 7th. He's shut them out thus far (5 hits), but that's a lot of innings to pitch.

EDIT: ONE DOWN!

EDIT: Then a walk. Tying run at the plate. And the Herd's shepherd doesn't wait, pulling Taylor for his 5'9" senior righty Margaritaville. Let's go, little guy! Double-play sends you to the porch swing with some sponge cake!!

EDIT: Grrr. Single puts the tying run on base, winning run at the plate. One down, two Bluraiders on base.

EDIT: TWO DOWN! Runners hold at 2nd and 1st. Come on, Margaritaville!!

EDIT: STRIKEOUT!!! BALLGAME!!! That frozen concoction that helps us hang on...a MTSU loss!! Thankee kindly, Thundering Herd!!

MTSU: 15-6
FAU: 15-6
Rice: 17-7

We owe a great thanks to ODU and Marshall; both won games to help pull FAU and MTSU within reach. FAU had a 2-1 weekend, and MTSU went 1-2 (very nearly 0-3). If this very dangerous WKU team that we just swept (but beat Louisville) can take out its frustration next weekend on MTSU, we will control our own destiny. We just need one WKU win; then it's up to us. :) Go Owls!!

RE: Other scores
Very critical loss for MTSU. Now we are only one in the loss column behind FAU and MTSU. If we go 2-1 against FAU, and sweep FIU, we will have 8 losses, but FAU will have at least 8. If MTSU loses 2 more............

We would have the tie breaker against both.

No, we are 17-7 in CUSA, according to our website: http://www.riceowls.com/sports/m-basebl/...sched.html

That's similar to what the Conference USA website says, but they haven't yet updated it for all of Sunday's scores.

Seniorowl's standings are correct.
