Southern Miss starting true freshman Kirk McCarty on the mound tonight.

Friday - RH Brock Hartson, Jr., (2-3, 4.15 ERA) vs. LH Kirk McCarty, Fr., (3-0, 1.83 ERA), 6 pm
Saturday - RH Aaron Burns, Jr., (6-3, 2.39 ERA) vs. RH Cody Carroll, Jr., (2-3, 2.88 ERA), 2 pm
Sunday - RH Chance Kirby, Fr., (4-1, 3.89 ERA) vs. RH James McMahon, Sr., (7-1, 1.81 ERA), 12 noon

In the past few weeks, we went from 20 to 70 in RPI after losing four straight.

We won six straight yet only went from 66 to 61. Needless to say, we will lose RPI positioning win or lose this weekend. UTSA or USM will be ahead of us in RPI after this weekend and WKU could to if they don't get swept.

RPI is not being kind to the Raiders this year. Everybody's RPI in the league is getting better except ours. And it's not like we have a weak SOS. Just goes to show mid week games matter.

IN MY OPINION, we need to win 3 of 4 in both sets of 4 game road trips (UTSA/Bama and Tulane/Middle Tenn) and we need to win at least 6 of the 7 in the homestand which would have us finishing 12-3 in final 15 and put us at 34-17-1 heading into the CUSA tournament. In that I think we will need to make it to the championship game or at least Saturday's 2nd game at worst. I'm not saying this scenario will get us an at-large but for us to be considered a possible at-large team.

Rice and WKU playing a doubleheader today due to expected rain tomorrow. Sunday game will be televised by ASN.

Marshall's Chase Boster had a perfect game through 5 innings against Middle Tennessee today. Gave up a leadoff double in the 6th that eventually came around to score and tie the game 1-1.

We can't stand prosperity. This is a weekend we had to sweep.

I called that we would fade down the stretch. It starts this week.

We have six hits and one run in our last 18 innings of baseball.

Rice comes right back with two runs in the second with a walk and a couple of hits after the first two batters were retired.

Rice now up 4-1 and still batting with bases loaded one out top of the 5th. WKU left their starter in a couple of batters too long.

Rice scores 5 runs on two hits in the 5th to take a 7-1 lead. All that started with an out and then a strike out/wild pitch where the runner reached base.

UAB loses to Charlotte. Niners had lost 9 of 10, including 6 in a row. Yuck.

ODU beats FAU 15-3.

I can't figure ODU out. They took 2 of 3 from Rice to open conference play, but have not won a C*USA series since. The Monarchs are now 5-4 vs. top 50. A real head scratcher.

Golden Eagles are now 2-9 in opening games of the weekend after falling 7-2 at UTSA tonight.
