Cynical FN says she tries to discount/refute the calculation of scholarship costs.

She probably said beforehand she wouldn't answer any UAB questions and probably threatened not to come on the show.

If she talked UAB it would just give Watts Co another "biased" talking point.

No one on the task force should be talking publicly pro or con before it is released. It is a matter of professionalism.

I was just hoping. She's a professional, and I should have realized she would give him a him a heads up. I just saw her following Solomon and hoped.

I think she will stay away from any UAB discussion period because of her relations with CSS and the UAB report, but I can almost guarantee she is not going to try to refute Andy Schwartz's arguments on scholarship costs. She is much to smart to go down that road because it is difficult as hell to argue with economic facts. Above all she will protect her reputation.

I caught the last 5 minutes or so of her part of his show. She discussed the list of college cities and their cost of living (as reported by the NCAA I think?) and how she found it interesting the 8 SEC school were in the top 15 even thought she found SEC schools to be relatively cheap cities. UT (Knoxville) listed as most expensive and how she couldn't believe that UTK was ranked ahead of USC (LOS ANGELES) in terms of cost of living. Again, I missed the first part of the interview but from what I gathered in the part of the conversation I did catch, the stipend amount that will be allowed is based on the cost of living. So the higher your cost of living, the more $$ you can give a recruit. She made the mention that high school recruits are going to see that number and might influence their decision.

She said basically that there wasn't going to be much change in status between the P5 and the next tier because of the stipend money. Where it really looks to come into play is between the various Haves getting into a bidding war for the high end of the recruiting scale.

Had to expect this sort of thing especially after the P5 voted against standardized measures to calculate the stipend...
