I noticed that the newspaper also made no mention of the Tuesday night win over Belmont, though they did mention the softball team's double-header losses. Apparently a couple hours difference in time can make an awful lot of difference. Of course, so can differences in attitude and priorities.

Congratulations to our players and coaches on two important wins!

Do we have a baseball beat writer?

Maybe John Martin would be interested in the position.

I would imagine the circulation of the Commercial Appeal is about that of the Press Scimitar by now.

According to Wikipedia:
94,775 Daily
133,788 Sunday
(March 2013) - an additional web search seems this is the latest data found.

Also according to Wikipedia the Press-Scimitar at its end was down to 80,000 copies sold per day.

So not too far off.

RE: CA Coverage of Memphis win over Black Bears?
I called once - years ago - to inquire about the lack of coverage for the Tigers. They were arrogant and told me in no uncertain terms that covering the Tigers was not their job. I told them it was not my job to support the Commercial Appeal and cancelled my subscription immediately. I am sure they felt no pain nor even cared - but I find myself smiling as their business fails. Feel bad for the employees but Karma is a b***h.

Wow. That's about a third of what it used to be in the 1990's. Newspapers are taking a beating everywhere. Still...its the best source of verified news.

Some of you people think it's still 1975. If it's not Grizz hoops , Tiger hoops and football or whichever SEC football team is hot it's not getting coverage. High school sports, golf, tennis, and American legion baseball have all taken a hit. It's got nothing to do with the paper being anti university of Memphis. Sorry if that is a hard thing for some of you to grasp.

I remember the Chicks always had front page coverage including pics. Lucky to find a paragraph for the Redbirds on the 4th page now.

It's just the nature of the times.

Good. I'm not worried about coverage, the market will fill in the void.

Nobody said they were "anti-university of Memphis". The problem is their assumption that our baseball program is not and never will be important. It is more important than they think and has a great deal of potential.

In my print edition this morning the Tigers-Rebs game has a writeup on page 2, right next to the writeup of the Cards-Nationals from last night. It's not huge but it's there. It pretty much tells me all I need to know, who did what and when and records.

Another 'grassy knoll' theory is alive and well on MT.org this morning.

And they don't even have a major sports team in Jackson MS. Imagine that

It's the same place where they put the articles about the golf, tennis, softball and soccer teams. I guess GA and Chapel Hill Tiger aren't fans of those sports.
