It's a pretty simple explanation. In the 14-0 win in 2013 it was Tuberville's 4th game and Eddie Gran was still trying to jam the pro-style/FSU schemes down the offense's throat. We all saw the next week against South Florida how excellent those schemes were for this team.

Then last year Miami had one of their better quarterbacks in a while against arguably the worst Cincinnati defense since the Conference USA days. They also had a NFL cornerback.

But, yea, if the Bearcats don't win by 20 or 30 this year I'd be shocked.

Miami had multiple games last year where they moved the sticks and put the ball in the endzone. Hendrix had 23 TD passes. They did not win many games though.

They attract superior athletes than Miami does. Looking at our roster and what is coming in the pipeline I see no way Miiami wins more than a one off. Thinking Miami is going to go on some run were they won 4 out the next 5 or something like that is nonsensical. Even in the 90s, when UC was mediocre Miami only led the decade 5-4-1. Miami's best case scenario is they compete fairly even with the Bearcats but I do not see that on the horizon.

Did I imply that we were going to dominate again? I posted earlier on this thread about how even in the Hoeppner days we didn't dominate the series and that our best hope for the rivalry is that it evens out in the long run.

Shouldn't it be the other way around? If Tubs highly respected us you'd think that he'd prepare his team enough to ensure that you weren't tied in the 4th with perhaps the worst MAC team ever, or that we weren't one yard away from tying the game late in the 4th on the road during a ten-loss season. Respecting an opponent too much doesn't mean that you lighten up on them, if anything you would strategize more to make sure it wasn't close.

Miami has a great coach. He is going to turn that team around and go on to bigger and better things. I wouldn't be shocked if they beat us next season (not this year, Kiel will whoop 'em). I'd be devastated and disappointed, but not shocked.

At this point in time UC should never lose to Cry-ami, no matter what conf we are in. They did land a very good coach, who I expect will turn things around at the "country club." However, we should continue to win.

I won't be surprised if Miami wins a game against UC in the next 5 years, but I'll be surprised any individual year that they beat UC.

Miami rivalry
Miami is largely projected to finish in the bottom ten out of the nations 128 teams. I like Chuck Martin but with a new QB I'm not buying that they should be super improved.

Including mine, there are now 229 posts saying nothing. The University of Cincinnati is not going to get rid of the game and it is a decent non-P5 draw whether folks want to think UC is better than they are or not.

Most folks on here just need to get off their high horse and go on to something actually important to talk about.

RE: Miami rivalry
I will probably go to the UC game @ Miami this year since it is only televised on ESPN3. However, I am expecting a better game atmosphere at the Marion Local @ Minster high school game I will be at Friday night (two 2014 state champs facing each other).

I've been to all of the games at Miami the last decade. UC brings a big enough crowd that the atmosphere is always pretty good up there. It's also one of the best tailgates of the year because all the UC fans can gather in the same area.

And you can leave at halftime to go back to your cooler to drink a few and then come back for the second half.
