Ga Tech agrees to series with UCF
Quote:Georgia Tech will play a future home-and-home series with American Athletic Conference member Central Florida, the Athletic Association announced Monday.
The Yellow Jackets will travel to Orlando, Fla., on Sept. 16, 2017, and will host UCF on Sept. 19, 2020. The teams haven’t met since 2000; Georgia Tech leads the all-time series 3-0. All three series have occurred at Bobby Dodd Stadium (1996, 1999, 2000).
In October 2014, the Jackets announced a home-and-home deal with UCF’s regional rival, USF, which will be played in 2021 (Atlanta) and 2022 (Tampa).
UCF is coached by George O’Leary, who was Georgia Tech’s head coach from 1995-2001. He was also an assistant coach on Tech’s 1990 National Championship team.
With the addition of UCF, Georgia Tech will play one American Athletic Conference opponent in each season from 2017-22.

Yuck.
It's like Navy, only with 4* athletes.

UCF setting themselves up to play the triple option twice in a year?

Maybe ECU should practice against some triple option

GT beat a very very bad Tulane team 38-21. UCF will be able to compete just fine.
I personally love playing Georgia Tech as a Tulane fan. Interesting game to watch, and it beats some of the other "games" in nonconference play.

Easy...have your DL crouch in position and then have a guy imitate GT's OL by swinging a baseball bat against their knees.

I like it. UCF has fighting chance in both if they keep playing smart.
Although whenever I see these games scheduled far in advance, makes me wonder if the current coach will be around. Cant see GOL coaching both.

The heir apparent Brent Key and AD Stansbury both have ties to GT

I don't think you want to compare that GT team to the one that existed after the Pitt game that year.
Also, that game was like playing on the surface of the sun. The turf, thanks to those black rubber pellets, was well over 120F.
Also, WTF is up with the "I'm in the 2nd row" TV viewing angle at your new stadium? A cherry picker would have been better.

The Viewing Angle at Yulman annoys the crap out of me. I'd almost prefer to watch a game on blue turf...

I was not a big fan of scheduling to play the triple option OOC.
However if Navy is going to be on the schedule and the team has to prepare for it anyway, might as well play against it a couple games. Better for the team to be exposed to it early in the season and then play Navy (conference game, more on the line) armed with some experience.
So I've now somehow convinced myself that scheduling a triple option OOC game is a good idea.

Eh. The rosters were the same - GT just had more confidence later in the season.
Both teams played on the laser-hot turf.
The TV viewing angle is ridiculous. It's like nobody consulted ESPN before designing the press area.

I hope the viewing angle gets addressed soon. It was really difficult to watch Tulane games last season. The camera's physically could not contain all the necessary content.

Well the Yoggies won;t allow expansion or at least our admin won't stand up against them. I guess one option is to have temporary camera stands.
Personally I didn't have that much of a problem with it, but is is another TU blunder as ESPN is apparently pissed.
