Isn't openly arguing with yourself considered a mental health problem?

1. With their current Fairgrounds plan dead, the city is looking for someone to step up with a viable alternative.
2. With a TDZ in the works, private investors could be enticed by the promise of ample public funds. Though it should be noted that the TDZ projected to raise approx 176m in public funds while the cost of new NFL stadiums is in the 1b range.
3. The LB is an aging stadium, and its 3 tenants (UM, SHC, AZLB) would surely be on board with a new stadium.
4. Though there would still be questions about suitable hotel space, a state of the art stadium in Memphis could allow for future bidding on events such as the Final Four, College Football National Championship Game, SEC Championship Game, Big XII Championship game (ahem), etc....
5. If, say, Jacksonville relocated - I absolutely believe the football hungry Memphis market would support the team. Imagine the rivalry with the "Nashville Titans" - it would be epic!

All that said, I'll believe it when I see it.

We have had this discussion many times on this board. Downtown as part of a convention center with end zone seating that moved in to facilite better sightlines for a larger basketball venue for later rounds of NCAA or perhaps SEC to milk the Kentucky faithfull. If not cost feasible, I suggested a time back to model it after the Polish National stadium with parking actually underneath the structure and retractable roof. It was built with meeting spaces for convention like functions and whatnot.[Image: 8bf4e7c2-38d0-4bf9-a35f-910ca9d8eaba.file]

For the life of me i cannot understand why ANY Tiger fan would want to bring any SEC games in any sports to Memphis. McDonalds does have Burger King posters in their restaurants. You do not see coke stickers on Pepsi trucks. Why do we want to help our main competition for talent get more live exposure in our home town. They already have a big foot print here already we sure as hell do not need to help them get more influence.

It's hotel room bookings, dollars in restaurants, ect, ect, ect...

If the Tigers want exclusivity, they should build their own facilities otherwise it's poor business for the City as a whole. The U of M had some leverage when it came to the Pyramid and being courted to the Forum. It's cost Memphis in the long run as it's been completely shut out of SEC tourneys. The Forum shunned the SEC basketball tourney at the urving of Cal but Autozone begged for the baseball tourney. The SEC ignored those baseball overtures and Nashville has landed a longterm deal for the basketball tourney. That will show the mean SEC05-mafia When Memphis and the Forum, post Cal, revisited the SEC basketball tourney, the ship had sailed. Crap like this is why it's hard for Memphis to have nice things. Pettiness has hurt this city for way too long.

RE: New Stadium
Missing out on the SEC tourney once a decade ain't gonna kill the city.

A new convention center makes more business sense than a new stadium.
