I am hoping this guy will egt drafted. All he does is win. The article indicates NFL scouts see him as too small.

I don't know why he wouldn't be worth a FA signing just to see what he's got.

I'm sure someone will give him a shot for training camp. Hard to make a roster like that though unfortunately.

He needs to go to the CFL. That's a perfect fit for his game. No shame playing up there and you can make some nice coin. Hell, I could live in Vancouver and play football for a living. Nice!

CFL is a failure to these guys, its like playing on the JV team in high school forever.

Cato deserves a shot to prove himself. People argue his size etc and how he will be fragile, yet he missed no gsmes due to injury i am aware of, including starting as a 155lb true freshman. The kid is all class, and while i think he won't work out in the NFL, i would love to be wrong and he at least deserves a chance. I think he will get a FA contract and a camp.

If failure is making 500K a year and playing football while living in Vancouver - where do I sign up. The kid needs to get some solid advise. Yeah, he can try for an FA contract with an NFL team but he could have great success in the CFL. It's a lot better than the arena league.

At one point, all the scouts said Flutie, Brees and Wilson were to short to play QB in the NFL. I wish Cato luck. Love his passion for the game and overcoming great odds to become what he is today. Hopefully he hets a shot. At worst he ends up in the CFL.

I don't get "too small" thing. I mean, Russell Wilson is shorter than Cato. Wilson weighs more, but he's been the NFL for a couple of years and I imagine bulked up since his college days.

His Wisconsin bio lists him at 5-10, 210 lbs, so basically the exact same as his playing weight now. Great article on Cato, although I'd love to hear more from Marshall fans regarding his aloof nature (not wanting to eat even though he clearly needs to bulk up a lot, skipping the CFL workout in Tampa, etc.). Is he really that nonchalant, or did the article just paint him in a bad light? I know the CFL is a step down from the NFL, but you would think a guy that is putting all of his after-college eggs in the football basket would be willing to consider anything. If he wants to coach someday, further playing experience can only serve him well.

My personal opinion is that he may end up having trouble being on his own now. When he came to Marshall, it was literally the first time he had serious discipline, routine, and structure in his life. Now he's out on his own and doesn't seem to be making the best decisions, particularly regarding his need to bulk up, skipping the CFL workout, and hiring someone with ZERO experience to be his agent. It really bums me out. I just want the best for him. He'll always be one of the best players in our program's 120 year history.

If JJ Watt gets a full blown hit on Cato, it might be over for him. Height isn't an issue, it is his weight

Agree with this. I am so impressed with Rakeem. Had no idea the hardships he has endured. If I was a GM I would bring this guy in as a free agent and let him work his way onto the team. Rakeem has gifts that cannot be measured. If Doug Flutie could win in the NFL and CFL, so can Rakeem. Never, ever, under estimate the power of a mans will to fight and his heart to do so.
