U most likely last saw him 2 years ago and you probably have no experience or history of projecting who is and who isn't a D1 player. I think I will trust the professionals on this. Austin is now 6'6", has developed his ball handling ability, possesses excellent court vision and awareness, has a high basketball IQ and a sweet stroke.

2 years at a basketball factory like IMG can transform a marginal player into a sigficant contributor. At a cost of $70,000 a year, one has to consider he got much better under the tutaledge of a former NBA coach.

Methinks this big guard will help the Huskies immensely before he graduates in 2019.

I've heard he can shoot the ball. That in itself should help.

Send my decent, unathletic kid to IMG for a buck fifty in the hopes that I can break even when he gets a scholly. #richpeopleproblems

Dude can shoot. If he developed enough athletically, defensively and with the ball he'll have a place at the table.

Most of those kids at the "prep" schools are on scholarship. My son's grade school AAU coach in Geneva has a child that attends a school in Vermont that costs $50K/year. How much of it is coming out of their pocket? $1500. He is a 4-star D1 recruit.

Why would there be so long between his committing and his signing the LOI?

The school you are leaving likes to have a signing event. Also, transfers probably have papers to get in order. It seems pretty normal with other kids that committed after last Wednesday. I see several are signing today.

1st in MAC, 80th in the nation.

That should be even higher nationally when they add Marshawn Wilson to the list. Well done Monty!

Nice but it doesn't mean anything without a MACC

It means the coach has changed the perception of NIU bball. It's important regardless of a MACC or not. Many outside of the dogpound feel that NIU bball is on the rise.

RE: Andrew Zelis to NIU
Wow. When did sports fans become so jaded? How has it come to be that some people can only enjoy a championship? So every year 11 teams in the Mac are bums? To carry that "logic" to its natural conclusion, The 350 some schools that do not win the national championship are losers.

I preferred to just enjoy each possession of each game and when the Huskies win it is icing on the cake. I will be quite happy when they win more than they lose and nigh unto ecstatic when they win 20 games. Such possible ecstasy begins with great recruiting classes. If fans cannot enjoy and appreciate a highly ranked incoming class they are likely spoiled and entitled or possibly jaded and unrealistic.

Rather than rain on the parade I would rather appreciate all of the amazing hard work and energy that went into selling the basketball program to these very talented kids along with the dream of a championship and a chance to play in the big dance.

So he's having it April 29th.

If it's a minor surgery, he could be back for 2015-2016.

If it's another total reconstruction, he loses another season.

I would imagine if that's the case he'll be able to get a 6th year if he wants it.

Maybe good news as it was originally reported that this surgery would not take place until June
