This might already have been suggested, but it needs to happen. This should be a top priority for the #FreeUAB movement. There should be a huge demonstration of UAB fans inside the lobby of the Wynfrey Hotel during SEC Media Days chanting UAB and showing support for the return of a football team.

SEC Media Days is the most widely attend preseason event in the nation by sports reporters. A side story of SEC Media Days should be those persistent UAB football fans who will not take no for an answer. It's an easy side bar story for a reporter, and every reporter will be looking for easy stories to fill a notebook. Radio row is located near the lobby as well. More importantly, every reporter there will flood Twitter with the news and images of UAB fans at SEC Media Days cheering for their lost team.

The gathering shouldn't be a protest. Just UAB fans cheering alongside all the other fans.

See nothing wrong with just having a presence, but no chanting or disruption of media events. Just #FreeUAB shirts and Blazer gear.

Why, as a UAB fan, would I be cheering at SEC Media Days?

I don't think this is a good idea but I will leave that up to the guys with the FF.

I'm not seeing the point. UAB has nothing to do with the SEC and quite frankly the SEC has nothing to do with the Football shutdown. If you attend a game at another school then by all means wear a UAB Football shirt or #FreeUAB shirt. I'm planning on breaking my UAB Football shirt out at a UT game in the fall and possibly at Tulane myself. I'm not on board with the Media Days idea though.

Trying something like this will not only fail (because UAB fans would be such a small group in a large ruckus)...but it will continue to reinforce the incorrect assumption that this fight is all about football.

Agreed.

I think it's pretty far away from being a priority.

It's SEC Media Day, after all. Anything UAB related would be marginalized and probably relegated to being a footnote. I wouldn't recommend going to make a point or anything unless you actually wanted to go and see the spectacle that is media day. I don't think taking the time out to make a point there would be all that effective, either. We've all seen the talking points against us, but all the SEC fans I've encountered have been extremely sympathetic.

Another thing is that it's far enough away that we'll definitely know the answers to a lot of the questions concerning athletics before the event takes place. Hopefully, we'd be too preoccupied with celebrating the stuff here to even bother messing with another conference. Depending on how things turn out, I can definitely see some questions be fielded concerning UAB and the present state of college football, though.

Edit: I do have to admit that I like to hear Spurrier talk about stuff.

I don't see where any good would come from it. I wish I thought it would help, but we'd just be sideshow freaks to them.

I wouldn't recommend this type of action. Instead we should focus our energies on getting football back and getting the necessary funding for facilities.

I was going to post second in this thread saying this was a bad idea, but figured I would get called a contrarian again. Rare that the masses agree with my wisdom. You guys surprised me. I figured most would be all over this bad idea.

Bad idea. Huge downside potential. Nothing real to gain.

Agreed! This can only viewed as a disruption even if we could generate the numbers - and I think we could generate sufficient numbers if necessary. We can not afford for our movement to be considered anti-SEC or anti anything for that matter. We need all of the friends we can get and we certainly don't need any more enemies.

It's not your wisdom most don't agree with. It's your attitude.

Whenever the media, and especially the national sports-media, are gathered anywhere in the State of Alabama, I hope they will see a strong contingent of #FreeUAB.
