semi OT - UH's final 3 for new AD
According to Mark Berman, UH's finalists for the AD position are Hunter Yurachek, Lynden Rose,& David Sayler. Yurachek works at UH currently as its associate AD, Rose played basketball at UH and is currently an executive in the oil and gas industry in Houston, and Sayler we know.

@collegead: .@MiamiOH_DSayler not a candidate for UH AD job. With @MiamiRedHawks for "foreseeable future.” http://t.co/S12Hz1Q7K8 http://t.co/viHID0yeWt

I'm surprised, given all the talk we've heard from UH about elevating their program, that they don't have a more "splashy" candidate. I guess Rose sort of fits that bill but without experience in college athletics is he a realistic choice? Yurachek has a fine looking resume but I thought we'd see folks from higher profile programs.

The candidate that works the best with Dr Khator is what we need, she is the leader and she has pretty much done exactly what she has said since her tenure. She wants into the Big-12 and she needs someone that can help her get that done!

Unless you can guarantee the Big 12 an incremental $25MM+ in annual revenues-- and you cannot, dream on. 03-cloud9

You sure do love your "inside information" The absolute homerism is starting to weigh on your Parliament Boards credibility just a bit. Hopefully we win in a couple weeks against the Coogs so we can be better at them in anything that matters to the college athletics universe. Until then 07-coffee3

Do you suppose she'd be willing to relocate to Lubbock?

RE: semi OT - UH's final 3 for new AD
A typical UH search: waste money on a search firm to find awful candidates that make your internal candidate that you wanted to pick all along look adequate. This "search" was rigged from the start. UH's biggest problem is similar to Rice's: can't sell tickets or corporate sponsors. That won't change with the continuation of Yuracheck/Dickey from Rhoades/Yuracheck. UH deserves what it gets.

Those headhunter agencies seem to be an amazing racket. Recommend candidates who would have applied for the jobs on their own anyway.

I don't know anything about the Hunter guy who apparently will get the job. But in general, I haven't been overly impressed with a lot of recent, major UH hires. I think the football coach could do okay but let's see how a season or two plays out first before you annoint him the savior. I do like the UH president and think they're lucky to have her.

Dr. Khatour is awesome, but the entire University's delusions of grandeur regarding conference realignment grow tiresome. Other than BYU, there is not a program in America that brings enough revenue to the table to justify inclusion in the P5 conferences.

I had a lot more repect for the UH president before I read that string of text messages last year. Embarrassing.

I would think that some might consider her a control freak and a publicity hound. Whether you agree with that or to paraphrase Al Haig she is in charge and it appears that it is her way or the highway. Rarely do you hear anything from the UH's BOT.

BOT moved out of the way for once when they hired Dr Khator, I believe that was the only way she would come to UH. The reason the BOT have given her damn near everything she wanted in ways of infrastructure to all areas of the University is that she has shown results in ways of private/public partnership throughout the University. The amount of money that is flowing in is something she said would happen based on her game plan. I trust she will have UH ready for the next big move in college realignment.

Rice used a search agency when we hired Greenspan and we could have done better with just about anyone else.

And For Karlgaard. And For Del Conte. I fail to see the point.

??? Needing to bring in an incremental $25M to join the Big 12 is publicly known. That's due to adding another school to the revenue share. The same criteria applies to Rice if we want to get invited to a P5, which is why JK is so focused on cleaning up our own house financially.

We know and we get it. That's why we are all getting blasted on here to give even more money only to the Owl Club and buy even more season tickets...we're with ya.

We're still not better than the Coogs at anything the College Sports World cares about right now. Lots of work ahead of us before I feel comfortable with our fans poking fun at their stadium, AD search firm, or dreams to improve their conference standing. But by all means...carry on. 07-coffee3
