Well, I was nominated but didn't make the cut.

I don't know or know of any of these folks (except Wes who is really not in line for a new position), so I fully realize that what I am about to write is sure to be on unfair to so some individuals.

However, after the current board went along with Wes on the "no confidence until yesterday" resolution and how Wes continues to be a Watts apologist according to other task force members, I just don't trust these guys. (And who designed those ugly new UAB license plates?) The NAS has acted as a extension of the University and has been playing patty cakes with multiple UAB administrations for so many years that I am not sure they are capable of doing anything different.

In addition I particularly don't like the way that we as members can only vote to "approve" or "disprove" the entire slate of candidates hand picked by the current leadership. You can tell that the NAS leadership expects everyone to fall in line, as they always have, and approve their candidates. That may be good enough for normal times, but these are not normal times. If we go along with this scheme, how is the NAS different from another self perpetuating board, the UA BOT.

I'm open to other ideas, but my first inclination is to vote "disprove" in order to disrupt the entire situation. I want these folks to earn my vote by stating their positions on the current situations before I vote for them.

If the FreeUAB as a group tries to have the current slate disapproved, the question will be can we muster enough votes through advertizing social media to actually effect the election. I'm not sure we can so it may be just another useless gesture.

What do you guys think?

I would have expected at least a bone thrown to the FreeUAB crowd. I don't recognize any of the prominent names.

You can absolutely trust Dr Musa. He's a Faculty Senate member and is 100% on our side. So is Mike Rowe.

I've seen Mike Rowe on twitter as a big freeUAB supporter. I assume he posts here as well. He was also great in Dirty Jobs.

Is Sam Miller the same Sam Miller we all know?

Scott McLeod & Sam Miller... I know those guys. Great guys. Dr. Register is an OD... I like UAB ODs. Mike Rowe is solid.

Overall, I'll take it.

Dr. R-T is a pediatrician and a member of Blazer Boosters (same level as Messina and some folks on BT).

That's all well and good, but does she have the fortitude to stand up and be a true leader when the need arises? The president is the face of the board and we can't afford weak president right now.

Does anyone have any personal insights?

Dr. Musa is awesome.

I'd like to know how many are UAB employees.

Both Scotts are great guys, as is Sam. Dont know anything about the others, but many of them have been lauded above already.

Since the Deadline isn't until June 10, 2015, I would encourage everyone to hold off returning their ballot until after we a chance to meet on May 5th and discuss things further.

OK, I know at least one person on here now that I got confirmation that is indeed who it is and I'm happy. I do want to hear from the President what the plan forward is but I can live with it.

I think that this is very wise advice. Nothing will be hurt by playing wait and see.
