Problem is, I don't think that's going to lock him up. If a P5 comes sniffing around, ODU's going to have to step up its money game pretty dramatically to keep him.

I would hope -following a solid couple years- he'll get a 5 or 6 year extension

Im sure when we win a bowl game at the end of this year, he will receive another big pay raise.

I'm not as tied in as one of our high volume posters today, but WS is desirous of keeping his HC in 5 year contracts for recruiting purposes.

We will have the same thread a year from now and a year after that and so on into perpetuity.

Many ADs do that. If your coach doesn't have at least five years on his contract, it makes it hard for him to recruit since he can't say definitively that he'll be there for the kid's entire career. I remember reading in one of John Feinstein's books that when Florida State stopped extending Pat Kennedy, he knew it was time to get gone and he jumped to DePaul. Didn't exactly save his career, but at least he left without a security guard watching him pack his office.
