RE: AAC Baseball week of April 20
I really thought 3-2 this week would have been pretty good, and 4-1 amazing, but 5-0 was unreal. Now right in the mix for a regional in a season that honestly I thought we'd be lucky to finish above .500.

Are our top 4 (with the best chances of making a Regional) beginning to emerge? Houston, Memphis, ECU, and USF?

yes looks that way. if it's between UConn and Tulane for a 5th bid...as of now...I would lean slightly towards UConn. They took 2 from Tulane. though the overall resume is a tad dicey, despite a top 40 rpi. they have a nice OOC win against Michigan State.

RE: AAC Baseball week of April 20
No one has much separation.
Memphis, Houston and USF look reasonably safe with Memphis having a strong top 50 record and Houston and USF high RPIs.
ECU is next in the standings, but are behind Tulane and U Conn in both RPI and Top 50 record.
Schedule wise, Memphis and USF appear to have it easiest.
Then ECU and U Conn, as each has a series left with Cincy.
Houston and Tulane play contenders the rest of the way.

I assume they'll take 5 teams from this league, but it could be 4; could be 6.

9 conference games left for us. not 12

ECU now has 16 top 100 wins (more than Tulane and UConn). that, winning 9 of the last 10, being tied for 1st place, and a better overall SOS over Tulane and UConn (plus winning both of those series), in my mind, gives us the notch over both of them for the 4th bid.

yes, I can't count. You are correct.
We have 11 games left and 10 are against top 50.

yeah...it's extremely close. no doubt about it. we have a gigantic series @ Houston remaining. we have 11 games left. 7 against top 50 rpi teams. 8 against top 100, as Elon now has an rpi of 99 after winning the first 2 against Wilmington. the road sweep @ Elon by us is now looking solid IMO.

Good thing we don't have the c7 dragging down our rpi. We need to stay in the top 3 to justify 4 teams postseason. Losing to uc could cost one of the top four a bid

Tough, tough conference. If I have this correct, only 4 sweeps thus far.

USF vs Cincy
Houston vs Cincy
Tulane vs Cincy
ECU vs UCF

Really puzzled by UCF going 4-12 since taking 2/3 from Houston to open conference play.

Injuries?

The Memphis/UConn game ended with only 15 minutes before the getaway rule would have ended the game. If Memphis hadn't scored 2 in the 15th I wonder how a tie would have ultimately affected things

They've fallen apart. We were unlucky to catch them when we did.

That's what I saw, pressing at the plate. Literally trying to knock the cover off. The pitcher slowed down way too much with runners on and started messing up. If the the hitters ever settle down, they can turn it around, if not they could sink faster than RMS Titanic.

Tulane will sweep Houston and USF in the next few weeks and get a NCAA regional bid. Book it!
