Calling all Coastal Carolina fans
Coastal fans. Where are you? You've got a bbs here with "0" posts and threads. You've had more success than any other Big South team in football and your program is being mentioned on boards here as a potential and future FBS member.

This is your personal invite to get involved here. It's true that only Coastal and Liberty have strong programs at the present and that's why as long as we're BSC members, let's at least have two teams that can challenge each other.

Visit the Liberty board at http://csnbbs.com/forum-46.html Make some posts on your board at or your own at http://csnbbs.com/newthread.php?fid=701

As much as I wish I could disagree with Carolina Low Country on this subject I think he is right. But as was said in dumb and dumber "so you're telling me there's a chance."

Maybe they still have that billionaire coach that can pay for the expansion.

As built it can be easily expanded to 20k, probably just by completing the horseshoe on the field house side in the north endzone and finishing the upper deck on the east side,

With some creative engineering 25k is very possible with a smaller upper deck. The only real limitations are University Blvd, Hwy 544 and the field house. If push came to shove there is room to relocate the terminus of University Blvd into Hwy 544 so that stands could be added to the south endzone, but it would involve either adjusting or moving the soccer field.

Myrtle Beach is small and largely a market of transplants and retirees.

Coastal has built a great program, but I doubt they can really improve their attendance all that much.

They have a very well run athletic department it seems, but I just don't see FBS being realistic in their location.

RE: Calling all Coastal Carolina fans
The county has doubled in size the last twenty years and is about 300k.
I would expect some more pretty strong growth.

Coastal has grown from four thousand students as USC-Coastal .
Since becoming independent has grown to 10500 students.
They have tons of student housing walking distance to the stadium on and off campus.

Attendance was a little better last year over eight thousand .
I don't think they are ready but five years from now especially if they win big maybe.
The city of myrtle beach would probably help pay for an expansion if it hosted a bowl game.

Most of their facilities are new and pretty good except the two most important are too small .The football stadium was mentioned as being built with an easy expansion to twenty thousand. The basketball arena is strange the baseline sections are higher than the side court or main seating. I wonder if a future upper level or two is designed in because of this oddity .The new baseball stadium is great.

I think they could get there in the not so distant future .

Coastal Carolina in reality can only look at two conferences: SunBelt and a brandnew conference taking the best of the CAA/Big South.

They only need to get the stadium up to 15-17k. The arena holds 3300+ This all all you really need...the bar is not very high anymore.

So it looks like Coastal Carolina might make it to the FBS afterall...can a bowl game in Myrtle Beach be not too far off?

Cheaper than what it would cost EKU to upgrade most likely.

I'll give you Charlotte but ODU was selling out what they had and had a proven winning track record in FCS. The move up made sense for them and they are expanding their stadium.

More power to Coastal Carolina. If they can move up, and the analysis works for them, go right ahead. Another FBS University in South Carolina would be a good thing.

RE: Calling all Coastal Carolina fans
Will Clemson and South Carolina be happy to be on the same level as Coastal Carolina? U of South Carolina used to claim the entire low country now Coastal makes a dent in their territory that can not make them happy. Same with East Carolina we recruit the low country and Florence to Myrtle Beach area hard that not good either. We are getting at the point where there are to many FBS schools. I know people get mad and all but it will get to point like the 80's where another split will occur.
