Which school joins the Big 10 with Missouri?
Rumors are surfacing that the Big 10 has targeted Missouri as it's 15th school. If so, who is 16?

Old Big 8 rivals Kansas, Colorado or Oklahoma?

Current SEC rivals Kentucky or Vanderbilt?

West Virginia? UConn? Virginia Tech?

RE: Which school joins the Big 10 with Missouri?
If this is about raiding the SEC, might as well hit them with 2 schools and go with Vanderbilt but put Vandy in the East as the private school in that division to counter Northwestern in the West.

Kentucky is too much of a stretch academically/culturally for the B1G.

Tennessee is contiguous to a lot of states in the South so would add some B1G value in the southern markets.

Kill SEC football power while you can.

It's Kansas. If the Big10 can somehow lure Missouri. Then Kansas would come running.

I'd agree. I think UConn is the last resort. They will try for a more attractive 16th school, knowing UConn is in the bag if they need them.

B10 isn't taking either of them.

Vanderbilt and Kentucky aren't Missouri rivals, not even Arkansas qualifies yet.

My guess is that Missouri stays where they are regardless of if there is any validity to any rumors or not (I'm lean heavily against, but not 100% convinced they are wrong either).

That said, if you get them, you are getting them before the next Big Ten TV contract and I don't see the conference stopping at 15. That means UConn is the other unless you get a 2nd SEC team and I don't see it.

I seriously think Vandy would consider the B1G seriously.

1) Academics.
2) Nashville's status as a national city.
3) Lighter football schedule in the B1G.
4) Better basketball in the B1G.
5) Location on the I-75 corridor where Ohio St/Michigan has big play.
6) Music City Bowl Tie-In
7) Good for Maryland to have another southern school in divisional play.

I can see some synergy with Vandy and the B1G.

Believe what you will but Vanderbilt has had opportunities in the past and has declined. If Vanderbilt went anywhere besides the SEC it would be to the ACC and they aren't going to do that either. It is cultural.

The B1G Vandy would be joining however is a different than your father's B1G.

No it's not. My father's Big 10 had industry, financials, commodities, and people. This Big 10 has academics and government money. The academics aren't as trustworthy as they once were and the government's money isn't nearly worth what it was in my father's day, let alone my grandfather's day. The rush by some academicians to cluster is a response of fear because they know what is coming and they think they need each other to make it. You're just doing a little trolling. It's time to grow up and realize that all of realignment is an attempt by educators to protect themselves against economic worries in the near future and present demographic shifts. It really isn't about football. It is in their minds about survival. The networks are merely capitalizing on that fear.

Why KU?

They bring zero for the B1G network because nobody lives in Kansas. They are a basketball blue blood, sure, but the fb stinks. And again I go back to market...they don't have one. The last two adds by the B1G were market driven as RU and Maryland didn't bring much in the onfield product department.

UCONN at least provides a region. I see UCONN getting in over KU.

Really if the B1G expands I see them targeting the ACC schools in the South East.

I don't see that either. If Mizzou was going B1G that would have happened when Mizzou was in the B12 looking to get the heck out.

Kansas v UConn is an interesting discussion. Both have historically great bball programs. Neither have great football, although Kansas did have that one great season a few years ago.

State populations are comparable. Conn. around 3.5 million while Kansas is under 3 million. But Kansas would help with the KC metro. UConn could try to claim they'd help (even if just a little bit) with NYC metro.

Plus for Kansas: it's in the Central timezone. With Missouri, that would put eight schools in the Central and eight schools in the Eastern, allowing Purdue to move over to the east.

Negative for Kansas: the state is split with KSU, both in terms of fans as well as state politics. If KSU doesn't have somewhere to go, then the state government won't let KU skip over to the B1G. But as far as split fans go, that doesn't really matter to the BTN. They'd still be able to use the fact that KU in B1G means they get to be on every cable system in the state on the basic tier/bundle.

Come on, you know better. So does everyone else.

That had nothing to do with Mizzou and everything to do with Nebraska.

Mizzou isn't going to the Big Ten. There isn't a rumor anywhere in the state of them moving.

KU would be interesting pick. Their football is horrible, smaller population state but they would help with Big Ten network programming with basketball.

Missouri and Vanderbilt to the Big 10.

Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida to the ACC.

Texas and Texas A&M to the Pac12.

And karma is served.

While I wish you luck with the Victoria Secret models at least that scenario is more likely to happen for you than the karmic realignment scenario of our pissed off poster above.
