CUSA draft prospects?
How is your schools prospects.

I feel Darryl Roberts and Chris Jasperse will get drafted for us with Hewitt, Rouse, Shular, and Holmes get UDFA deals, Cato heads to Canada or HS coaching

RE: CUSA draft prospects?
From Southern Miss, DT Rakeem Nunez-Roches is expected to go between the 4th and 6th rounds. He is an early entry into the draft declaring after his JR season.

Our Kicker, Corey Acosta, is expected to sign a FA deal unless he gets drafted really late.

RE: CUSA draft prospects?
Christian Covington should get drafted around the 5th round from Rice? He's another early entry draft guy. Jordan Taylor and Bryce Callahan are possibilities too - both would be late in the draft probably.

RE: CUSA draft prospects?
Our SF Richard Ross has strong interest from the Chargers, 49's, and Vikings. Likely to get drafted? Probably not. But he's 6'4.5" and ran a standing 4.6 the other day for the Vikings as they had him for a private workout.
http://blog.startribune.com/sports/acces...all-player

Taylor Heinicke might can go in the 6th or 7th? The Vikings are showing a lot of interest.
http://www.vikings.com/media-vault/video...r=25545388

Rick Lovato worked out for the Vikings, Chiefs, Raiders, Giants, and Chargers.

I would be ok with becoming a Vikings farm team. =]

Nobody from Charlotte, that I know of (others might be able to shed some light on that).

From William & Mary our best prospect is Tre McBride - I've seen him projected anywhere from 2nd - 5th round.

RE: CUSA draft prospects?
For Tech I think Houston Bates and Mitchell Bell have a shot, but will most likely be undrafted free agents. We have 2 juniors who could've been drafted but are returning to school. I think we could have a handful drafted next year.

"Houston Bates (6-foot-1 1/8, 238 pounds) ran the 40 in 4.66 and 4.70 seconds. He had a 26 1/2-inch vertical and 8-9 broad jump. He had a 4.42 short shuttle and 7.21 3-cone drill. He put up the bar four times before stopping because he hurt his pectoral muscle.

Bates was worked out at three positions. He's primarily a linebacker, but also worked as a defensive end and fullback. It was a nice workout, and he'll probably be a free agent.

Mitchell Bell (6-foot-2 5/8, 347 pounds), an offensive lineman, ran a 5.36 and 5.28 in the 40. He had a 27-inch vertical and 7-foot-8 broad jump. He had a 5.10 short shuttle and 8.01 3-cone drill. And he had 21 reps in the bench press.

Bell is described as having really good feet. He moves around well, especially for a player his size. He has a few off-the-field issues that will have to be looked into, but I think he'll get a look as a free agent."

A few analyst's have Neville Hewitt going in the 4-5th round. He has had private workouts for 22 teams. I think James Rouse gets drafted too, even if its late.

Chris Jasperse was a walk-on at Marshall and all he done was start all 4 years and never missed a snap. Someone will take him for his consistency.

Darryl Roberts will go somewhere, he has had private workouts for 29 of the 32 NFL teams. If Roberts would have been invited to the combine, and why he wasn't still baffles me, he would have had the 2nd best numbers of any CB.

Jermaine Holmes, Tommy Shuler, James Rouse (if not drfted), Craig Wilkins and Ra'Shawde Myers I think end up as UDFA somewhere.

As far as Cato its anyone's guess. Four years ago if Cato was 2 inches taller and 15 pounds heaver he would have been in the ACC or SEC.

Might be first season in awhile WKU does not have a player drafted...Our best shot would be Cam Thomas as a 7th round pick:

My opinion is Roberts, hewitt, jasperse get drafted

Cato, and rouse get signed, maybe wilkins. Other than that i am not sure.

And no way Shuler gets drafted or signed. No 4.72 5'6 receiver is getting a chance in the nfl. You can be big and fast, or small and really fast. You cant be small and slow. Wilking is somewhat big, but he is also slower, but he may sign somewhere.

RE: CUSA draft prospects?
Cam Thomas is picking up very strong interest from several teams with a fairly weak crop of DB's in this years draft. He will go somewhere between the 3rd and 6th round.

Also George Fant from our basketball team is currently weighing his NFL options. Several teams have expressed interest in Fant at the TE or DE spot with his size and speed. If he decides to give football a try he will be a UDFA.

Couple other guys will be UDFA pick ups trying to make a roster as well.

A general rule, guys like welker are the exception, no the rule.

Wes Welker was not that slow. 4.72 is slow (and probably inflated a bit as well for shuler). Welker is "quick" and he also runs probably a 4.6ish time. I havent looked it up, just based on watching him.

he is also 5'9, so a bit taller as well. Not to mention welker was probably a bit faster in his prime than he is today.

Hopefully Taylor Heinicke gets picked in the 6th or 7th. Ross is late 7th or UDFA if anything.

Nelson deserve cudos from CUSA but CBS says JJ Nelson will probably be the last UAB player ever drafted. Let's hope not!
