Man, it looks awesome. This just got me in the mood to pull out the first six episodes.

1 and 2 were pretty lame. 3 was much improved over those...still nothing like the originals. Remember standing outside in line at the Park theater for the old originals.

Abrams appears to be doing these right, liked his reboots of Star Trek.

RE: Chewie, we're home - The Force Awakens
paramount theater opening day for star wars (on the BIG curved screen)
park theater for Empire
Ridgeway Four i think for ROJ

EP 1 was an abortion
EP 2 was a decent story in there somewhere buried under CGI, bad acting and atrocious dialog
EP 3 was marginally better than EP 2 - none of the prequels are worth re-visiting

this trailer is very promising (and no sign of Abrams lens-flares)

I would tend to agree about the recent Star Trek movies but then again it's a reboot and reboots are meant to take a shell of a storyline and re wrapped it up to make it brand new. Fortunately, the new Star Wars movies are more of an continuation of a storyline but just with new characters and new enemies added. There is no new Luke or new Han Solo or new Darth Vader for example and so Abrams can only go so far and can't reboot some things that are canon in the Star Wars world

Abrams is also known as a huge Star Wars fan. I'd imagine this movie is getting the best work he's done in his career.

If they were smart the next star trek movie would be a flip on the city on the edge of forever where Spock uses the guardian to go back and save Vulcan ( and succeed)

RE: Chewie, we're home - The Force Awakens
JJ did exactly what Star Trek needed so badly...

Star Trek (2009) - 386 Million
Star Trek: Into Darkness - 467 Million

combined 853 Million dollars...

JJ proved Star Trek can be a true 'blockbuster' that makes Paramount Pictures lots of money.

It's time for CBS (or a subsidiary like Showtime) to bring Star Trek back to the small screen...

hell, this fan series is QUALITY Trek...

RE: Chewie, we're home - The Force Awakens
CBS won't do Star Trek because they are doing well with their line-up of police procedurals and BBT. And they won't put it on the CW because if it isn't a DC show, it's going to be a show that appeals to teenaged girls.

If you are a real Trek fan, you should hope that CBS does a Trek show for Showtime that can be more adult. Thirteen episodes a season and more violence and sex.

Plus, CBS has to get a cut of the Paramount Star Trek movie as a licensing fee.

Yep.

Put it on Showtime...13 episodes...big budget...make it more adult.

I'm 100% behind that idea

I re-watched the trailer today.

"I have it, my father has it, and my sister has it."
Sounds like a herpes commercial....more than a movie sequel.

The thing that stuck out to me when I heard those words was the tense used when he talks about his father
