When the University of Cincinnati needed a home to play football last season, the Bengals offered up Paul Brown Stadium and even offered to give back the NFL team's portion of the rent for those games to help make it happen.

Thursday, the Bengals made good on their commitment and delivered a check to UC for $172,617.17.

The relationship between the two entities has grown substantially in recent years, with the Bearcats playing a small number of their largest drawing games at PBS - dating back to 2010 - while the Bengals began utilizing UC's practice bubble during inclement weather days late in the season.

Awesome. I know many on here like to victimize the UC athletic department as a result of the competition we face in Cincinnati, but it is so important that we build these kinds of relationships

Actually, it is the Cincy media that constantly brings up the competition angle. This must have ruined Lance's day.
Ironically, many on here like to criticize the broadcasters in the area, like Lance, when we really should be trying to use the media to our advantage as well.

If tO$U comes to town, we play them at Nippert. UC and their boosters didn't invest all that money to make a de-facto home game for tO$U at PBS.

Even IF to$u had the guts to play UC in Cincy, instead of hiding behind their attitude, I say our stadium, our terms.

Thanks, Browns, for the payback. It's greatly appreciated.

Meh. Lance and his buddies, in the media, have their biases set in stone.

Right now we are in a G5 and coming to Cincy doesn't gain OSU anything. Let's be honest. In addition we just played them in Cbus and got waxed. that doesn't help their perception of us either.

If we were in the B12 and consistently in the top 25 tO$U would nevereverevereverever play us again.

maybe but the pressure would be on them to do so locally and the "we don't have anything to gain by playing UC" line wouldn't hold water at that point at the least.

I wish people would quit acting like OSU is afraid to schedule UC. It's simply not in their best interest to do it on a consistent basis. When was the last time we beat them in anything? I doubt people in Columbus are shaking in their boots.

For football they aren't afraid to schedule us - they are very clearly afraid to play us HERE.

For football they can claim it is a money issue and there is at least some truth to that. For basketball there is no money issue, they don't want to get beaten by us, plain and simple.

I don't think they're afraid to play at Cincinnati anywhere in football. As you pointed out, it comes down to money and having a limited amount of slots on the schedule. It does nothing for OSU to play a road game in Cincinnati. Generally you're looking at a couple of warm up games and one marquee game, which is typically going to be reserved for a major opponent that will benefit you recruiting-wise and bolster your resume.

Basketball's another story. UC should be playing OSU, UK and Dayton on a regular basis IMO. Hell, you could even through Indiana into the mix.
