Football aside guys.

I remember how sad I was after seeing what happened this day 8 years ago.

Remember today... 2007
I had a bunch of friends whose older siblings went to Tech at that time and a bunch of neighbors as well. I remember the panic and fear as many people I knew were trying to contact their friends and family but couldn't because the lines were tied up. I still can't believe something like that could happen. A girl from my church who I would see regularly died that day. Never forget, I'm wearing Maroon and Orange today

That is so sad. I'm sorry for your congregation's loss.

Thank you. I am not very religious but as a kid I attended catholic school. I didn't know her personally but the loss felt the same. Our whole community, even outside the church, felt the loss. It really hit home.

With all that said I also don't want to take away from the Virginia Tech community. I remember how scared and confused I was that day and I had no ties to the university. I can't imagine what it must have felt like to be there or to have a family member or loved one who was there that day. I hope those 32 rest in peace

I agree with the being scared and all. The first thing I thought was "Who had the nervous to do such a thing at such a good school."

RE: Remember today... 2007
I was in the McDonald's drive-thru (beside the ted) and called my dad to tell him. He didn't believe me until he turned on the news. For some reason, at the time, I wasn't shocked. However the more I watched, the more I realized the full scope of the events that unfolded at VPI. I thought if something that terrible could happen on such a rural campus, what could a lunatic do on our open/urban campus? I've always struggled with crowd anxiety, but the months following the Tech tragedy were some of the most reclusive times in my life.
