AAC looking to preserve the status quo
I have it on good authority that the AAC does not want to see any more upheaval from realignment. The schools are happy with how everything us now and want people to be content with the conferences as they currently are now. Vast majority of AAC fans like the feeling of being the underdog per recent polling. As more news breaks on this development, I'll keep you posted.

You're welcome.

We are the king of stats quo. The motion to table the motion to not do anything is expected pass, opening the way for the motion for status quo to be examined by a blue ribbon committee, which is currently in recess until its term expires. It is only reactivated when a group of hooded Catholic basketball schools is seen slumming around the renamed CUSA malt shop hitting on UConn. At that point, the Committee To Study Doing Nothing will alertly swing into action.

ok..

What do you think the MAC would do if NIU left for the AAC? They would invite Illinois State which would cut into NIU's recruiting base.

NIU then would also be upgrading the FB schedule, taking more losses. Marshall pounded NIU pretty good in the bowl game last year and that is the competition level NIU would face every week in the AAC.

RE: AAC looking to preserve the status quo
More info: From an anonymous AAC person who is high in the hierarchy, there is zero desire to pursue any conference network at this time. Also, they do not have any plans to attempt to monetize any of their other media rights properties. When asked why they won't pursue this, the answer given was that "college athletics are all about the students, and that chasing after dollars is not what this is about".

As I get more info, I'll let you guys know.

You're welcome.

Yeah, I don't think UNC is fixing the softball teams classes.

If NIU could get an AAC invite I would like to see the MAC invite Liberty or JMU so that the IL St and NDSU fans will both go nuts.

We were the 5th youngest team in FBS last year.

Yeah no lol ISU isn't getting that invite to the MAC haha. There are far more deserving schools. Also that NIU team did not play up to it's potential, they laid a bit of an egg. Trust me, the NIU team that took the field and was close to BCS busting again was the team i expected to see. Everyone has an off day brother, NIU just picked a terrible day and a horrible stage to have one

Liberty would be my guess as well, just makes a lotta sense and IL St is just so bad in... everything but baseball
