TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Alabama starting guard Ricky Tarrant will miss the rest of the season with leg injuries.
Crimson Tide coach Anthony Grant said Thursday in a news release that Tarrant suffered a ruptured plantar fascia against Florida on Jan. 27. He missed the past eight games.
Tarrant, Alabama's No. 2 scorer, also requires surgery on his left knee. Doctors had initially planned to fix what Alabama described as a bony prominence in the knee during the offseason. But Grant says Tarrant's foot injury was not healing rapidly enough for him to play in the next few weeks.
The Tulane transfer was averaging 13.1 points per game. He played in 19 games and started 13.
So, another transfer coming off injuries who will have played a half a season of competitive basketball since 2013.
Awesome sauce.
he can come in during summer workouts and get into shape. Wasn't Kedron's case decided at almost the last minute last season? To the point where he didn't have time to work out with the team?

I remember this guy as being pretty good his freshman year. As I recall, we beat them at Tulane after Pastner went to a 1-3-1 zone with Will Barton at the top of the zone. Will intercepted several passes across the top of the key to help us defeat Tulane. I was still impressed with Tarrant.

Simply being out of shape is not the issue that was being raised I do not believe...

Well Kedren never showed that his heart was really into it.
If anyone were to be let go...I'd have jettisoned him before i let Pookie go.
We dunno how committed Tarrant would be in comparison, until he gets here (assuming that he is coming here)

Kedren is such a huge question mark we need a backup plan just in case. Really hope we get this guy and any other decent guard that's willing. *If* we can shore up that position, and only *if*, we have a decent shot at being good next season.

Tarrant isn't my #1 choice, but he's better than what we have. I'd rather have Sulaimon...
Anyone who thinks kedren's PT last year means anything other than how bad our PG situation was is kidding themselves.
He can't be counted on, Tarrant will be in the conversation to start at the 1 or 2 next year.

I'd be fine with Tarrant and Markel.
If Kedren can't commit to basketball, tell him thanks for the memories.

If Kedren doesn't commit himself over the summer, then I would think either Tarrant (if he has healed from his injuries) or Sulaimon (if he winds up here) would be a no-brainer to start. Heck, even without those two, if Kedren doesn't commit himself we might be better off with the freshman.

I just don't see how we can bet on Kedren.
Ball hasn't been a priority in 3 years...

Yep, I can't disagree. No offense to Kedren but I'll rather just roll the dice with Martin if we can't get the effort. If he has no desire then the only time he should start is if there's a injury or its senior day (for a few minutes)

Kedren has such great floor vision. And no one on our team moves and manipulates a defense like he does. Of course he isn't where we want him or where he even has been in the past, but don't count him out.

So Tarrant would have two years of eligibility?

As in, "moves predictably slow while handling the ball and manipulates defenses into intercepting his lazy passes"?

Just 1.
He played two years at Tulane and the first 19 games at Bama, until he suffered two separate injuries that forced him to miss the last 12 games. He is due to have knee surgery soon, if he hasn't already had it done in the last couple weeks.

Any idea out there how many schools he might be seriously looking at besides Memphis? Or better, how our chances look? I mean if the guy wants PT --- we'll have it in buckets for the guards.
Huh? Memphis returns it's starting PG who was playing north of 34 minutes a game in the last two months, their shooting guard who started 30 games and Markel, who was getting 30 mins a game at the end of the year.
Bringing in Tarrant will just piss off one of those three.
But at least Pastner is good at massaging egos.
If you can't read between the lines-if Josh thought he could count on Johnson you think he would be doing this?
Maybe Josh the Evaluator sees Tarrant as a two. Maybe he doesn't trust Markel or Woodson.
Or maybe he's just throwing sh!t against a wall and seeing what sticks. Just gather a bunch of dudes and hope it works out.

Maybe not. Tarrant is more physically talented than Woodson by a long shot-in all likelihood, ready to contribute more than Markel on offensive end.
Physically, perhaps, whatever that means. He can't shoot a lick from outside (a need for the Tigers) and Tarrant's defensive rating is worse than Woodson's.
To me, it seems that the bulk of scoring should come from the 4/5 position, with the 3 (Markel/Burrell/Lawson(s)) provide a decent bit, too.
Bringing in a gunner doesn't seem to fit the need of the Tigers, who could use a situational shooter who can lock a 2/3 down on defense.
Just my thoughts, I'm doing this for free, not $2.65 million.
