The contract is to play at your place on September 24, 2022 - a Saturday. What's your point?

RE: N.C. State declined request to play Friday night at ODU
Pretty much every school in SC plays Friday night, except for when local TV is involved or a couple stadium conflicts in the Upstate. Clemson had a Friday night road game last year (the Syracuse loss) and that took a hit with HS football attendance because so many people were watching the Tigers game.
The only time they don’t play Friday is when there’s bad weather (thunderstorms or a hurricane). Then games are moved to either Thursday nights or Mondays. My school (down in the Lowcountry) played a couple Saturday afternoon games against teams from distant parts of the state and NC, and the attendance was probably 1/3 of what it would have been on Friday.
HS attendance has been declining in our area for years. Our HS team has won more than 5 games once since 2000, but we still got 3,000+ fans usually and even 5,000 for big games (our stadium seats 9K). Now you’re lucky to see half that. The big school in our area (Wando, 4000 kids) still sells out their stadium, but that is an anamoly in this part of SC.

Glad to see NCSU hold their ground. The new ACC TV Contract forces them to play a game on Friday is bad enough. Thank God we can refuse to host.

A part of the ACC’s 15-year, $3.6 billion contract with ESPN is that every team will play at least one Friday night (but they don’t have to host a Friday night game; most still will be at Boston College or Syracuse).
N.C. State assistant athletics director Fred Demarest said the school has told the ACC it will not host a Friday night game.
“We respect high school football in this state and we value our relationship with the coaches,” Demarest said.

With ODU not at ODU. if game were at ODU they would be fine with a Friday game. ACC deal only applys to ACC games not CUSA games, I think NC state is breaking contract. The TV deal for ACC does not cover away games. If I were ESPN I would sue them like yesterday.
As been mentioned this was three years ago but the game was at ODU. CBS Sports wanted to put the game on Fri night but NC State was only there to recruit the Tidewater area so they said no. I think it ended up being broadcast on ASN or something.
No, not just about recruiting. ODU is in the Tidewater's DMA. That DMA broadcasts in 7 North Carolina Counties. That would be like Clemson playing a game in Charlotte or Asheville on a Friday night and thinking it will not affect the folks in SC.
You will not see NC State play on Friday night during baring litigation or big fine from the ACC office. Steve Logan and ECU were crucified for playing on Friday night. It ain't happenin'.
There is one school that could do it (play on Friday) and possibly get away with it, but that school’s coach would have to do a lot of explaining for why he did it: the UNC Tar Heels. A lot of ECU Pirate fans said that there were a bunch of UNC principals & teachers at the HS they recruited which is why I say UNC could do it & get away with it if they had a good reason for doing so. Alumni don’t question their alma mater too much unless they feel like their alma mater has betrayed them. I can definitely see some UNC grad principals & HS coaches doing that if UNC did decide to play on Friday night.
XLance, have UNC alumni ever protested something UNC did in athletics??

My high school (regional Catholic HS) in NJ played Friday nights mostly when I was there ('79 - '83). My hometown stadium had lights since it was also used for summer softball leagues but the football team played Saturday day games. The town I'm living in now -- no lights at the football field, so Saturday day games.
Varies by location in NJ but has happened for at least the last 35 years.

Dodged a bullet there. Wolfpack generally prefers that their loses to G5 programs fly under the radar in the middle of a busy Saturday afternoon tv schedule.
