How would you know that? And if you do, why would you post it?

The way he talked about not having certain resources or being able to make trips on the radio. I believe it. Expenses solely for recruiting for men's athletics at UAB as a whole WAS only slightly over $300k.

That is why the emphasis has been on recruiting locally. Doesn't mean he has nt made local or regional in home visits. There was also talk of a donor providing use of a private jet for recruiting trips a few months ago.

He went to high school very close to Atlanta. Probably wanted to be closer to home. Not surprised they got him.

I hope it is as simple as that.

To date, I have not heard of UAB MBB getting any commitment since Dec. 2nd. The longer that remains the case, the scarier the possibilities of why.

I know you want to jump off that ledge, but take a step back for just a little while.

We have 11 guys on our roster, at least 9 of which we expect to see significant minutes. Haase has also said he will not sign any players that could mess with our chemistry. I'm comfortable with the guys we currently have, even if we sign nobody else. Depth could be an issue of injuries occur, but it's tough to convince a guy to come provide depth.

Despite what some think, no one except the coaches know who is on our priority list. There is no evidence that Mitchell was a priority this year.

Don't make this a loss if it wasn't one.

Tookie Brown, Quadree Smith, and Tommy Burton are likely on our list and still uncommitted.

Right. I don't have who the coaches are after.

Coaches showed some interest in Mitchell for 2 reasons: he played with & against some of our players (chemistry), we need a guard to replace rob brown in 2016.

i think if Garrett or Coleman decides to transfer from UA, they'd get a call as well.
I know Tookie received interest again. We backed off Tommy Burton for who knows why. Haven't heard anything in relation to Quadree smith or Jeremiah Worthem. If Anton gill takes his visits & doesn't commit, we may be able to get him to visit UAB. Willy Kouassi has interest from over 30 schools. Ricky Tarrant is considering Memphis, Clemson, PSU, St. John's, Nc state.... Stanford Robinson is bound to end up somewhere in the northeast. There's a former teammate of Baxter at UMES who eligible immediately. Then there's a teammate of Mehinti's in high school who is still available. There's not a lot left in juco. The 5th year seniors, the good ones at least, want to play for high majors. Artis Cleveland is going to Lawson state.

Like you, I am hopeful that UAB navigates through its present troubled waters without hitting any icebergs. Accepting your numbers that we have 11 guys who can play with 9 we expect to play a lot, this is a day when hundreds, not a few, are transferring around the nation annually. UAB is facing two dates that decisions may be made over which it has ZERO control, but could impact its team, perhaps affecting those numbers. The signing of a well regarded player now would mean a lot in our present circumstances besides just making a better team.

June 5th the C-USA will rule on UAB's desire to remain in the conference while in violation of the league's bylaws.
June 30th, the end of this school year, will perhaps be important if the league drops UAB. UAB will then have to await invitations from other conferences (more things UAB can't control) willing to accept UAB - and its controlling & hostile BOT - as members.

Gene Bartow, who led us into every conference we have ever been in is no longer with us. Who is the leader who can manage this new challenge? Watts? Lucas? Mackin? Some new AD we haven't hired yet? If I am on any ledge, I may have a lot of company there by the end of this summer.

Chris Cokley had a great freshman season, shooting 54% from the field and 75% from the free throw line. Most of his scoring was from down low. Most of his misses came from three point range. He averaged 17 minutes per game, 3 rebounds. His assist/turnover ratio was 2/1. He was third on the team in steals for the season. He is so quick to the basket.

Don't know what chris Cokley's stats have to do with signing day, but you don't even list Cokley's stats. Ha averaged 4.7 rebounds, only took 1 three point shot all year, and had 18 assists and 35 turnovers, hardly a 2 to 1 ratio. I think you have him confused with someone else, but I couldn't figure who.

That said, the first part was accurate. Cokley had a great year, even if it means nothing to the signing period.

I think Gorilla mixed up some player stats. Cokley did average 17 min a game and shot 54%, but nothing else is right. Maybe there is a new stat: turnovers to blocks, because Cokley was 2to 1 on that.

Did we offer him or are we trying to get him to walk on? His only listed offer is with Furman.

Schaffer scored 707 points for an average of 21.4 points per game. The senior shot 84 percent from the line and converted 40 percent of his three-point shots. That's while hoisting up an average of five treys per game.

His full stat line glows when taking into account the slight guard averaged 7.0 rebounds and 7.7 assists per game while only turning the ball over an average of three times per contest. He also swiped 3.5 steals per game. He averaged 31.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.5 steals in his two 6A Northwest Regional games against top-ranked Lee-Huntsville and Athens. The Bearcats fell to top-ranked Lee-Huntsville in the Northwest final.

He has walk-on offers at Auburn and Alabama(before coaching change)...
