Cost of attendance for UC
Anyone know what the cost of attendance will be for UC. I saw that Louisville will have of about $ 5,200 which turns out to be the highest in the ACC. It seems each league is calculating this number.

As I stated long ago, these numbers do not mean anything. It's a self-created, self-reported number annually by the school that is published for prospective students to look at costs. They now will do a balancing act of jacking it up and scaring off prospective families deciding on schools versus attracting "student" athletes. The entire system is turning into the WWF.

So, according to those who have answered, it is somewhere between $5,200 and $1,700,000.

I would err on the higher end of that range, but that's a pretty solid estimate.

RE: Cost of attendance for UC
Three years ago when my daughter was a freshman, it was about $11k for in-state tuition and another $11k for room/board.

Since she started cooping, I haven't seen a bill since she has been able to cover it (yeah coop program!).

How many athletes will get the FCOA per school? Does it need to even out for men's and women's sports?

UC main campus tuition is exactly $11,000 for in-state students and $26,334 for out of state students (bad news for my nephews and nieces in Indiana).

Room/board (full meal plan) depends on the dorm, with a minimum of $10,496 to a maximum of $11,872.

That's insane. When I graduated high school in 2003, I believe tuition at UC was in the mid $6,000's. Tuition is out of control.

I wont even tell you what it was circa 1990.

I can remember getting my tuition, room and board and fees for ~$9k in the early 90s (it was $3k a quarter).

I know I am steering this OT but for a lot of students you might as well go to Cincinnati State for the first couple years (to knock out the gen Ed courses) and then transfer in. My former neighbors in Columbus did that and paid a fraction of the cost. Their son went on to OSU Medical School after he graduated so it did not set him back at all..

These are just numbers for a public school. Just think what some private schools cost.

A big part of the problem is that the state cut subsidy to Ohio schools, particularly UC, quite significantly a few years ago. That's why the rise intuition has been so high.
If they really want an out-of-state student, especially one with really good grades/ACTs/merit scholar, etc., Bruce, they will offer at leastv the difference in tuition most likely or better if possible, to get to in-state tuition. We saw that with our kids who were considering out of state schools or private schools.
Its the big, big chunk that the state stopped supporting UC with that's really had a negative impact. It's coming home to roost now.

Ironically the COA at all the private schools are not as high as the other P5 schools. I do not have the list in front of me but the schools giving the most money were Louisville, Tennessee, Mississippi State, Texas Tech and a bunch of other Sec and Big 12 schools. Private schools in expensive cities like Stanford, USC, Northwestern and BC were at the bottom of the list.

RE: Cost of attendance for UC
Back in my freshman year of 1984-85, I received a full tuition scholarship. It saved me ~$1700/year. Tuition was almost double five years later when I graduated.

Room/board in Calhoun Hall was somewhere between #2700-$2900/year.

Since we're playing the history game...... 1980 tuition I paid $330 per qtr. Last year in 1984-5, tuition had exactly doubled to $660 per qtr.

By the way, FCOA includes more than just room and board. Someone is trying to figure out books, pizza and beer money, and whatever the hell else someone thinks a college student should spend money on. Some of us spent only what we had; not what we thought we were entitled to.

Full cost of attendance is more the tuition books and fees. ECU has all ready posted its amount over the normal. When is UC going to post there dollar number. It may help recruiting now. ECU commitment is over $4,000 which they think will help them this recruiting period. There is a list over on the AAC site.

Looks like Memphis is doing ~$4500/yr and Tulsa is $2500/yr.

RE: Cost of attendance for UC
When I graduated in 1966 the tuition was $600 and the minimum wage was $1.00. So that is 600 hours ignoring taxes.

If tuition is now $11,000 and minimum is $7.50 (?) that means 1467 hours.

Tuition is out of control!
