Sounds like an interesting guy, albeit possibly not overly bright or as concerned with academics as he should be (based only on my read of Dukeman's noted highlights). With regard to ODU and Selig, where are they? Also, isn't he mixing his metaphors?05-ban

"where are they?"...CUSA growing the ODU brand. The last two times I have seen ODU play football or basketball: competing against
NC State (football) and competing against Stanford (basketball) at Madison Square Garden on ESPN during the NIT final four on national television.

"where are we?" I attempted to watch MBB play USC Upstate (Sun Coast Conference) but the video feed froze. The last time I saw JMU football we getting our asses kicked by a homophobic online school in Lynchburg.

But we are a CAA powerhouse in Woman's Basketball and doing very well in Softball...

Just a quick couple of observations regarding ODU. First, it may have been the Middle Tennessee game in football, but they got their rear ends absolutely kicked in that game and they were fodder for upper level teams. In basketball, Stanford came out and blew away ODU, enough so that Bobby Knight said that Stanford didn't respect ODU's team. ODU valiantly came back only to lose, of course.

Only game we got plastered in last year was vs. Marshall - who did that to every team they played sans 1 last year. They were a top 25 team almost all season - no shame there. I wouldn't call the 2014 team "fodder" for anyone - beyond that Marshall game we didn't lose any game by more than 14 points....hardly fodder.

And yeah - we lost to Stanford - in the NIT final four. A pretty good place to end the season two years removed from 5-25. They didn't "blow us away" we lost by a few buckets, because an all-conference player made the shots he needed to make at the end of the game. No shame there either.

Middle Tenn. was up 24-0 in that game in Norfolk and the final outcome was something like 41-28 (somewhat misleading). And yes, Marshall won handily, putting up more than 50 points. Was is the season before where Maryland demolished the Monarchs? Believe so. Just a few examples.

Louisiana Tech was an "upper level" team. So was WKU and Rice. We did OK there (2-1).

6-6 first full year FBS. We'll take it. (Would have been even better in the Slum Belt, but no thanks).

I believe that was your first season with having 85 players on full scholly's. I have no issue with that record and only hope we can do as well. Though, I do hope to eliminate total blowouts. I'd take something just less than .500 if we can be in every game for the first couple of seasons.

It was and we redshirted 28 of those 85 for 2014. In addition we had about 30 freshmen and 12 sophs who played so we were/are young. Another issue is that many of our upper-classmen were holdovers from our FCS recruiting days although they did their best. All-in-all the 6-6 record seemed pretty solid to me as a fan. This year we get the 28 redshirts on the field plus 18 incoming freshmen (some of who will play) although that means over 1/2 of our scholly players will have never played in a college game. This season we will also start having some recruited FBS players on the field as upperclassmen which should help. That said we are still a couple of years off from really being there with a full team of FBS players. We are especially missing on 5th year seniors but it takes time.
