Florida state transfer who played one year at ECU. He was on an almost 399 rpi team that beat you.

I just think unless you're guaranteed to be drafted you don't leave early.

New mentality, he can like me a couple of hundred grand overseas and 1 more year isn't going to change anything. He isn't going to be an NBA player in a likelihood and he likely knows that himself. His $ is overseas.

He already has his degree, playing basketball in college one more year isn't going to help his prospects.
I have an acquaintance who left State early when he knew his only prospects were in Europe. Plays in Iceland and made a hundred grand in Belgium.

Agree with everyone one year wasn't going to make him an NBA player, not a bad decision especially since he has his degree

True...that, NBDL plus even some leagues in Asia.
Bottom line...college isn't for everyone...and if one can earn a pretty good living (especially for a non-college grad) by playing hoops...more and more players take it.
Some hoop fans that don't follow the Draft that closely are almost shock to hear there are only 2 rounds in the NBA Draft...and once you add players from Europe (occasionally from China, Australia and South America), Freshmen, Soph and Juniors who leave school early for the draft...and then even some Seniors who have exhausted their college eligibility...most eligible players go undrafted...but almost all can still find a home to play hoops "somewhere" professionally.

Ah wasn't aware he received his degree early. Makes a lot more sense now!

Why doesn't the NBA expand the draft by a round or two and expand the D-League by 12 teams? That way it can be the MLB/MiLB system.

The NBA used to have a 10 round draft. It's two rounds because of the limited amount of space on a team and to give more players the opportunity to tryout for the team of their choice. Adding more rounds could hurt a prospects chances of making it if a team selects him and doesn't need him. It could also complicate things with overseas basketball.
He didn't really graduate early for an athlete. He has been in college for 4 years. That's with 4 years of summer school.

The NBA isn't going to sink more money into the NBDL as long as they are subsidizing the WNBA.

They would be dumb not to see all that talent going oversees when they can keep em stateside. Plus they could expand rosters for the last month of the season by 5 players for d league players. It could benefit the NBA more than having all these players go overseas.

They could but I don't think the player's association would go for it.

I think it's funny to see what people think is reality to what IS reality.
Kid graduated...if he can make money playing ball, why would he play ball in college where he can't make money. Lifespan of ballplayers is short.
AND...people think that kids have to have NBA talent...when in reality the majority of good college kids you knew about in college aren't actually playing in the NBA...most are playing overseas. The NBA only has 2 rounds, so what 60 kids a year...and usually about half of those don't make a roster.

They also don't really care. Minor Leagues aren't a profitable entity, not a good business move for profit maximization when you have a 1-year training program in the NCAA.
To them, who tf cares what the public thinks of one-and-dones? They still watch/pay/attend/support...
