A Final Tribute To the Old NBA
My Mom worked for the World Champion Nats back in '55...the players earned decent wages but almost all resorted to working part time jobs off season. The players hung out together and it was not uncommon for them to walk into a neighborhood bar after a game to enjoy a few cold ones.

Thanks. Love those old stories. It's hard to believe Syracuse had a franchise, but Chicago didn't have the Bulls until 1966.

My mother dated a NY Titan in 1960, just before she met my father. The Titans later became the Jets.

RE: A Final Tribute To the Old NBA
I remember when NBA teams used to travel around playing in small towns. Wilt Chamberlain broke George Mikan's all-time scoring record in the Charleston (WV) Civic Center on a free throw, which was pretty ironic, considering how bad he was at free throw shooting. I was about 12 at the time, sitting on the press row with my father.

I think the Civic Center got the game because Jerry West's brother Charlie used to work for the Civic Center. But don't hold me to it. I'm simply assuming the relationship helped.

was waiting for this. Wait, let me guess: Your cousin was the secretary to Naismith? Am I close?

Look it up, unbeliever. I could give a 01-rivals whether you believe me or not.
